Under Director Robert Mueller, the FBI leaked the medical records of Steven Hatfill to the NY Times and other friendly media. The agency falsely accused Hatfill of the 2001 anthrax attacks. Its pursuit of him resembled the Keystone cops. At one point, an agent struck Hatfill with an SUV and drove over his foot. Eventually, it cost US taxpayer nearly $6 million in compensation for the false accusations.
