👻 It’s spook-tacular 👻 Today, @thekillers Mr Brightside is at number 51 in the Official UK Singles Chart. That’s 44 weeks this year, and 481 non consecutive weeks in the chart since 2004. #thekillers #mrbrightside

I despise musical gate keeping with the fire of 1,000 burning Suns.
It prevents others from enjoying beautiful or meaningful things while actively harming the artists who make them. If something moves you it will likely move others and you owe it to them to show them.

i'm running into a new problem.... people hate me..... for sharing good music 🤣 ???
English

@wheredidshefly i'm sure you're probably aware that it's a cover of deodato's super strut, but wanted to also share this version which, to me, is right up there with Joe Bataan's

@lorrainemking Don't Shut Me Out is the JAM. Love this record!
English

@cantripguy was literally just thinking this the other day as someone from an agency spouted off 20 cannabis brands he's worked with, half of which i hadn't heard of 😂

@lorrainemking @brandonousley hope both of you make it over to bluesky, miss the music chatter over there

Album of the day. One of the cornerstone acts on jazz-funk master Roy Ayers' indie label, Uno Melodic Records in the early '80s, Sylvia Striplin was one of those lesser-known names whose music has grown in stature over the years. Ayers' sleek, melodic brand of post-disco soul fit her coy, kitten-like voice like a glove, making their sound beloved among quiet storm and rare groove mavens alike. Of course, everyone's familiar with the ultra-smooth stepper "You Can't Turn Me Away," as well as this album's title track, two monster jams that have been sampled by practically everyone. The rest of this album is a soulful delight with the dance-minded redux of Ayers' classic, "Searchin'," as well as "Look Towards the Sky" and "You Said." This is every bit deserving of the title of a lost '80s soul gem.

Nick Boyd@NicholasBoyd

English

@SVG__Collection with that said, wonderful list of great music!
some i would add:
Chico Buarque – Construção
Wanda – Wanda Vagamente
Tamba Trio – S/T
Marcos Valle – Samba '68
Jongo Trio – S/T '65
Rosa Maria – Uma Rosa Com Bossa
Orlann Divo – A Chave Do Sucesso
Luiz Henrique – A Bossa Moderna
Português

@SVG__Collection not to pick nits, but i'd classify many of these more as primarily MPB (Garra, Verocai), Samba (Paulo Moura), or straight jazz (Coisas), or tropicalia (Caetano)
this isn't to say they don't have bossa elements/influence, but I wouldn't consider them seminal bossa records per se
