Does anyone know the first instance in print of the term “The Troubles” being used to describe the conflict in Northern Ireland?

@GAHargan I think the last time we had a task force on FE/HE expansion in Derry, the politicians were ‘bought off ‘ with Irish language and music being centralised to Magee and the Tip O’Neill Chair.

I am so gutted I never got to meet Inez but I get to engage with all the fab people she inspired and empowered! What a woman. There should be a statue of her. We need to rebalance the place with...*gestures wildly* all of the women.
Áras Uí Chonghaile | James Connolly Visitor Centre@JamesConnollyVC

This portrait of Inez McCormack is proudly displayed in Leabharlann Uí Chonghaile🖼️ The first woman elected President of the Irish Congress of Trade Unions in 1999, she was a powerful trade unionist and a tireless campaigner for human rights. Kindly on loan from @UNISONNI

@nwmforum @BenRosher @dcsdcouncil At least the street furniture interrupted the clear flight path of the pigeons. We’ll be back to low level, 150mph swoops of the feral pigeon squadron from Waterloo Place into Guildhall Square.

DCSDC has replaced DfI traffic wardens with private sector ones - which on the face of it is privatisation.

Troubles ‘humour’ needs to be put through some sort of filter before it ends up as semipermanent murals on our streets. #internationalwomensday2024 #iwd2024

@pauljmullan01 Which Burntollet Bridge? The Newest Bridge under construction in the background, the New Bridge under demolition in the middle foreground and part of the Old Burntollet Bridge under demolition in the bottom right. A trinitarian symbol of addiction to building ever faster roads.

First Walls Friends event of 2024 is this coming Saturday morning. Walking tour around rarely-visited eastern flank of the city walls. Always under pressure from developers, see it before you loose it! eventbrite.ie/e/take-a-walk-…

@maxwiggan Okay for a traumatised teenager to have had that thought in the middle of conflict. Not okay for that thought to be displayed on a public street within a home decor motif but without full context. Pouring paint over the heads of young women was never okay.
