@DrHoenderkamp I agree with this. The internet and digital solutions have been around for 25-30 years now - meaning 70 year olds were 45 when it all started to come in. The “older people” excuse is starting to run dry.

@theiaincameron This is not new, it’s been in place for years. Problem with it is if you stop to let someone across and leave your backside hanging out on a main road, you’ll get rear ended. Pedestrians - if you try and cross a car length into the side street I’ll always stop.

Once again on this morning's run I found out that the level of ignorance on rule 170 (H2) of the Highway Code is widespread. Despite the HC changing in 2022, many drivers in the UK remain unaware that they should yield when pedestrians are either waiting to cross or have 1/2

@mikeerwydd1968 Mike is correct on this. Voting is a civic duty, and people need to take responsibility. Some of the turnout rates in elections, especially by elections, have been shameful - as low as 22%.

People fought for the right to vote. Voting should be compulsory. A fine if you don't. Everyone should vote.

@mikeerwydd1968 100%. The turnout rates at some of these elections are woeful. Disgraceful in fact. I think the Aussies have it right - voting should be mandatory. It’s a civic duty.

If you're from #GortonAndDenton and you're upset that the green party won, and you didn't vote, then you should have got off your ass and voted, every vote counts.....

@EA4246 Provided there are adequate controls and governance around postal voting, it absolutely should remain as an option. We need to get more people voting not less. 46% turnout is a disgrace.

25% of Gorton and Denton was Postal vote. That’s ridiculous. Voting should be Armed Forces and Disabled people only.
