@SarahJadeThorne @Xtopher_Uzo Don’t worry. It does take practice. It seems daunting at first but eventually it will come as second nature. Remember there is no “correct” way to pray it; relax. Lose your anxiety. Later, it will be a great source of peace and answered prayer.

@Xtopher_Uzo Lifelong Reformed Baptist converting to Catholicism here! I’m struggling with the Rosary. I can't seem to focus on the mysteries while saying the Hail Marys. My Protestant brain wants to just pray the mysteries, but then I’m protesting again lol! Does it just take practice?

We badly need a dress code for Mass. Way too many short shorts and yoga pants on girls and sweats with Crocs on guys The clergy needs to step up and demand better. I’m not even saying it has to be suits and dresses, but have some respect in the house of God, man Ridiculous

@ChristianNbdy In the beginning it can be a little daunting until you get used to it, but I recommend you learn to say the rosary. Feel free to simplify it. There is no right or wrong way. Allow it to relax you, say the words slowly. Feel God’s presence in the room with you. I’ll pray for you.

I’m very new to the Catholic Church and intend on starting OCIA in September. I’ve been struggling with anxiety, shame, and pressure I’d really appreciate prayers for peace, trust in God, and courage to attend Mass and grow faithfully one step at a time.

@ComeHometoRome The real clencher for Catholics is Real Presence: when you receive Holy Communion you are really receiving the Lord and becoming one with Him. Transubstantiation is the most common explanation for how that happens, but there are others. The key is to believe in Real Presence.

One thing is certain: Catholics being rude and hostile to Anglicans online or elsewhere will make the Catholic Church look bad and alienate Anglicans and bystanders of goodwill. Dame Sarah is a very nice lady and following her conscience - that is all that needs to be said.

@CharlesTingler Converts tend to be a bit too passionate and continue to hear the Catholic faith as Protestants…a bit too literal and not pastoral. You can’t just change Bible authority for papal authority. Before trying to change things, maybe live and enjoy your faith for about 10 years.

I have studied Catholicism for about two years. I have gone deeper than most converts. I see a real crisis in the Church. I understand why resistance movements exist, including those that claim the entire hierarchy has defected, like sedevacantism. I do not accept that conclusion. I hold that the Catholic Church is the Church Christ established, with the Bishop of Rome and the bishops in communion with him. I see errors, contradictions, and confusion. I do not ignore them. I address them carefully and respectfully. At the same time, I continue to trust God. I plan to enter the Church on Pentecost. After I am received, I will take a more active role. As a candidate, I have mostly shared my views publicly. Going forward, I intend to communicate directly with bishops and officials in Rome. I will raise concerns through proper channels and make my voice heard where it can have real impact.

@latinedisce I am all for learning Latin, but wouldn’t Greek and Hebrew be better so you can read and understand nuances in the original languages. Still Latin would be especially helpful for the Church fathers and Catholic writing for 20 centuries.

You can read the Vulgate in Latin without a dictionary after two years of serious study. Yes, I mean starting Latin from scratch. It requires one hour of focused Latin study per day. The key is using the right method (I recommend LLPSI) and consistency.

False dichotomy You should study the Catholic Church’s teachings on “just war”. War, ( especially after Christ revealed a deeper understanding of God’s nature and will for humanity) is never considered “blessed” by God. It’s permitted because of fallen humanity. But all war is a consequence of man’s fallen sinful nature. Not a blessing of God. “Because of the evils and injustices that accompany all war, the Church insistently urges everyone to prayer and to action so that the divine Goodness may free us from the ancient bondage of war.” (CCC 2307)

@all_themoxie My only recommendation is listen carefully to the pope and try to understand; however, the Church itself teaches you must follow your conscience. It’s not the last time you will be called to reflect and pray; just take a deep breath and relax.

I joined the Catholic Church for a reason—I believe it is the Church Christ founded. I spent a LOT of time studying the faith and reading the Catechism cover to cover before my baptism. Lately, I’ve found myself struggling with some of the Holy Father’s public statements. The tone feels absolute, and I’m having a hard time reconciling that with the Church’s full teaching that I’ve studied in depth. And if I’m honest, the reaction in my own heart has not been good. So I’m choosing to guard my heart. For now, I’m stepping back from @Pontifex’s social media and these conversations. I will keep the prayers and rosaries I’ve committed to, and I will continue to pray for the Holy Father. But my focus needs to stay where it belongs: the Eucharist, Sacred Scripture, the Catechism, and the guidance of my priest. Lord, have mercy. Keep me faithful and rightly ordered.

You can learn so much about a culture just by looking at the words they choose. When we squeeze past someone in the US, we instinctively say sorry or excuse me. It acts as a quick request for forgiveness for taking up space. Living in Mexico City introduced me to the beauty of “con permiso.” You are not asking for forgiveness, you are asking for their permission for the space you need. Navigating a massive city based on mutual respect rather than guilt is incredibly refreshing.

@ShaneSchaetzel There is the issue of apostolic succession and communion with the successor of St. Peter. The fact that the Anglican Mass looks like the Catholic one is superficial.

I do not understand why liberal (heretical) Catholics keep pushing for female ordination when they can have literally EVERYTHING they want in any Anglican-affiliated church throughout the world: in America that would be The Episcopal Church.👇🏻 x.com/SkyNews/status…

I am still searching for a church to call my home, but recent discoveries about the doctrines and behavior of many Christians—especially as they relate to war and eschatology—have repelled me from evangelical denominations and drawn me toward the Catholic Church.
