Hey, @grok, who was the most famous person to visit my profile? It doesn't need to be a mutual, don't tag them, just say who it was

Very proud to have won the Faculty of Science Excellence in Doctoral Supervision Prize. Biggest thanks goes to my nominator and the awesome letters of support from current and past group members that brought a tear to my eye. It's shared with every member Taylor lab member.

Season’s Greetings to all at the end of this tumultuous year at home and abroad. Let us keep those who are ill, lonely, homeless, hungry, and/or in war torn environments in our thoughts today.

Hey, I've been promoted to Full Professor. Guess I need to sew elbow patches onto my flannel shirt? Looking back at my ~20 years in science, I've been fortunate to work with incredibly kind, creative, collaborative folks. Looking forward to continuing the fun in the next 20!

@MarkSilby Thanks @MarkSilby! Apologies, I should have acknowledged you for providing all the strains that made this work possible! Would be cool to get your input on these results sometime 😊

If anyone wants to talk about convergent regulatory evolution in Pseudomonas, come talk to me at my poster this afternoon at #microbio24 at B101! (Or try zooming in on this slightly blurry photo and read it now!) @m

Hey to all the bio-nerds on my timeline! My daughter sent me pics of a purple bacteria (?) she isolated in her soils lab class. Picked it off a plate of mostly bacillus mycoides they grew from soil samples they took. Instructor hadn't seen one like this before. Any ideas?

@markowenmartin @univpugetsound @ASMicrobiology Never tried to do anything like that. I would imagine a disc impregnated in some kind of ferrous solution might make them shutdown siderophore production. But I don't know how long the siderophores already secreted would hang around for.

@MarkSilby @univpugetsound @ASMicrobiology Mark, is there a quick way to see if these microbes are iron dependent? Like a drop of something on the plate and see if the fluorescence goes way? They are usually Pseudomonas...

Serious question: when I get UV fluorescent colonies in a water bottle, is it truly due to siderophores? I would like to think that the water bottle is iron deficient... @univpugetsound @ASMicrobiology

Best wishes to all who celebrate Xmas. We live in turbulent times: many are in very difficult circumstances, whether that be because of illness, poverty, loneliness, war and conflict, or any of a myriad of challenges. Let us think of them all at this time helenclarknz.com/my-diary/chris…

This is really hard to talk about. Please forgive me for not replying for a while. But I have signed the paperwork. It's time to create room for other faces and voices. I still want to have a role, though. Hopefully, I will find one; I love microbiology. 1/2

Hey @peacock, why aren't you showing the Capetown rugby sevens live today? And why are there no replays of the pool matches available??
