@MartinSLewis Is it not better to ask folks to report wait times and call out call centres that are always under resourced in order to maximise utilisation which means that every caller has to wait. If you get through immediately that means the call handler was sitting twiddling their thumbs.
English

New. Please report "sorry we are experiencing unusually high call volumes" messages. I want to test if some firms have this for EVERY call. If you call a bank, broadband, mobile, credit card, energy, water, sewerage firm, pls take 30s to report it via moneysavingexpert.com/report-high-ca…
In some cases it may be a breach of the consumer duty.

@thatginamiller I agree with most of your proposals plus:
Political parties (with more than 5%of votes) to be funded by tax payers with no contributions from businesses or individuals to outlaw undue influence.
No Ministers to be employed by companies related to ministries they have worked in.

Heartbreaking to hear of the incompetent dysfunctionality at the top of government during #covid that cost so many lives
The key question asked by #HugokeithKC #CovidInquiryUK - who is actually in charge?
For years I've been saying our system of government is completely broken, and needs fundamental reform. Why for example, don't we have people with the relevant experience running departments, rather than reshuffles to those who are most loyal?
The present status quo, weak, naive machinery of govt costs lives. Agree with #DominicCummings - it has to stop!
That's why I set up trueandfairparty.uk to at least start a realistic debate of a different, more robust, pragmatic, competent and caring way forward.
If not now, when? @VoteTrueAndFair

As floods & fires rise, oceans boil & ice melts, and "safe" temperatures are breached, something momentous just happened in the heart of the EU. No one has heard about it: journalists were present, but their editors refused to publish 🤯.

@ItsAnimalsDaiIy Elon Musk. Tweets like this which are fake and promote cryptocurrency with its huge carbon footprint should be taken down immediately.

@ianp2009 @MichaelRosenYes How on earth could anyone have predicted that she would say that? Get real.

@shahakha @paulklauber @LauraJoint @BylineTimes Agree 100%. I believe political parties, once they achieve say 5% of the vote in a general election, should be banned from taking donations over say £50 per individual per year. This would prevent businesses and rich individuals from buying influence which they clearly do today.
English

"Jacob Rees-Mogg has received £22,000 in donations from a top hedge-fund manager who regularly profits from betting on the collapse of the British pound, the failure of top British firms, and rocketing energy prices" - @BylineTimes bylinetimes.com/2022/09/22/fra…

@Childs4Tessa @NicolaKelly @hackneylad @ukhomeoffice This is a good and fairly obvious idea which shows that the Home Office is not actually interested in closing down the people traffickers just deterring all migrants.
English

@NicolaKelly @hackneylad @ukhomeoffice Why does no one give her the obvious solution to priority No. 1? Visa centre in France followed by ferry tickets for those eligible. Get rid of the customers for the people smugglers. Just shows that it is a euphemism for stopping Africans
English

🚨New: For months, @hackneylad and I have been looking at what's going on @ukhomeoffice and how it became the department we see today.
My task was to speak to current staff and to get as close to Priti Patel as possible. Here's what I found out. (Thread)

@LinkMatt88 @LunoGlobal No one is suggesting that any bank or normal currency involves the co2 emissions similar to a small country or that a single transaction involves co2 in the order of hundreds of kilos - are you? No. You’re just hoping to profit for doing nothing from someone else’s loss.
English

@MarkTSalmon1 @LunoGlobal Now estimate how much CO2 is generated by all banks chains

@cryptocom Based on data from the Bitcoin Energy Consumption Index from Digiconomist, the carbon footprint of Bitcoin is equivalent to that of New Zealand, with both emitting nearly 37 megatons of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere every year, according to a February 2021 CNBC article.

@Nexo Crypto currencies are phenomenally bad news for climate change as each transaction involves huge amounts of electricity and hence CO2. Do not join this disaster!
