Next time someone complains about how much land is needed by solar, point out that powering entire US for all purposes with PV replaces 1.24% of US land used for corn ethanol and 1.3% of US land used by fossil industry with 0.7% of land used for PV, part of which can go on roofs.

In my reporting on clean energy misinformation I've seen one argument over and over. Wind turbines kill birds. While this is true, it misses an important piece of context: Fossil fuel power plants kill 35x more birds per GWh than wind turbines do. 🧵

Good morning with good news: Both US coal generation & production fall to levels not seen since the 1960s! Coal generation falls to just 15% of US electricity in 2024. US coal production plummets to 460 million tons in 2024 from 1 billion tons in 2014. eia.gov/outlooks/steo/…
