@anon_opin Don't think they were a joke, just that their biggest hit was a bit too poppy for the Britpop crowd. Back in 96 I had a tape in the car with this on one side and Moseley Shoals by OCS on the other. Going to see both albums performed in full this year on 30th anniversary tours.

Dodgy's Free Peace Suite is a great lost britpop album. Hugely underrated because they were a bit of a joke band, but the tunes are second to none.

@hollieh0llie £100 to see them in a 2000 capacity venue or £150 to hear them from the back of football stadium. I know which one I'd prefer.

@Britpopmemories The albums that stay in the charts are the ones that get streamed on repeat, just like you probably listened to Morning Glory every day for 12 years. But that didn't count as an extra sale every time you played it, whereas streams do.

@Britpopmemories It may still happen. But most acts go all out for physical sales and pre-orders which are counted on release date. So sales peak at the start of the week and they rely on streams to sustain their midweek chart position come Friday... 1/2

Remember all the hype last week when Robbie William’s new album “B*****p” went to number 1 and beat the record held by The Beatles? I wonder how it’s getting on? Oh…not very well it seems😂😂😂

@RichardLawes @paullewismoney If we assume that the calendar began in Year 1, then the first decade was Years 1-10, the first century was 1-100, and the first millennium was 1-1000. Hence the first year of the current century was 2001. You're working on the assumption that the calendar began in Year Zero.

@RugbyInsideLine Lots of Quins fans were very smug when the WRU took Danny Wilson off their hands, but if anything they've got worse since he left. Be careful what you wish for!

🃏 WHO COULD BE DOR FOR QUINS? Not many DoRs in the market, but two names who could be good fits for the style Harlequins want to play: Vern Cotter - currently at Blues Jamie Joseph - currently at Highlanders Time to get someone into that currently vacant top role.

@HenleyHawks There have been four more meetings since 2001-02; after you won promotion back to the old National One we played twice in 2003-04 (Welsh won 27-16 at Dry Leas and 18-13 at ODP) and twice in 2004-05 (Hawks won 18-14 at home and lost 27-12 away)

Henley Hawks Rugby
Henley Hawks Rugby@HenleyHawks·
London Welsh vs Henley Hawks – Saturday, December 13th, kick-off 2pm By Alistair Beynon There’s no escaping the fact that it’s been a wretched season for Henley Hawks to date. On the back of four consecutive defeats, and having only managed to pick up two victories all season, the stats paint an ugly picture for Luke Allen’s side who find themselves second from bottom of National 2 East. However, there’s still plenty of rugby left to be played and Henley supporters will be hopeful that with two games left before the festive break, the Hawks will be able to finish the year on a high note. Henley’s opponents tomorrow (Saturday) are London Welsh, who need no introduction. With a rich history dating back to 1885, the Richmond-based side have featured at the very top of club rugby in this country. However, voluntary liquidation in 2016 threw them back to the bottom of the English rugby system, from which they have slowly climbed back up to level 4. The two sides last met each other during the 2001/02 season in the old National League Division One. Welsh did the double the over Henley that year with a 24-9 victory at Dry Leas on the first day of the season, which was followed by a 33-20 win at Old Deer Park in March 2002 As for team news this weekend, Allen welcomes two new faces into the starting XV. Despite initially hoping he would make the side for the Bury game last weekend, Morgan Macrae was a last-minute replacement to the Rams team to face Rotherham. However, he is now confirmed on a short-term loan to Henley and will take his place at inside centre. Joining him from Rams is experienced fullback Andrew Lamb who also comes into the side. In the pack, with Spencer Hayhow banned for a week following his dismissal against Bury, Nelly Kinniburgh starts at hooker. Sam Lunnon and Roan Noone also come back into the starting XV in the second row and at openside flanker respectively. Ben Elsey and Scott White both take their places among the replacements. The Hawks provisional side to face London Welsh is: 1. Louis Bailey, 2. Nelly Kinniburgh, 3. Moses Fakatou, 4. Sam Lunnon, 5. Liam Goodison, 6. Fin Basil, 7. Roan Noone, 8. Will Benning, 9. Leo Webb, 10. Max Titchener, 11. Lailand Gordon, 12. Morgan Macrae, 13. Callum Jones, 14. Seb Scott, 15. Andrew Lamb Replacements: 16. Charlie Sichel, 17. Luke Shpylka, 18. Scott White, 19. Ben Elsey, 20. Oscar Busby Elsewhere this weekend, on Saturday the 2nd XV are at home to Bracknell 2s whilst the 3s are away to local rivals Marlow 2s. Both games kick-off at 2pm. On Sunday, Henley Hawks Women have a crunch match-up at home to Exeter Athletic Dakota in their latest Championship South match-up, kick-off is 2pm.
