Abimelec Ortiz was optioned back to AAA after going 1-for-2 with a double in his MLB debut. They’ll add another pitcher Friday coming out of the break.

Dylan Crews looked like he had a bead on Ben Rice's drive to the wall in left-center. He didn't quite get there before slamming into the wall. Two runs score. Nats down 4-3 in the 8th.

FYI: Jacob Young was not available today, he’s still dealing with a sore hand. Blake Butera says he probably needs another 4-5 days to fully heal.

Final: Yankees 5, Nats 3. For the third straight day, they gave up a late lead, though this one didn't count as a blown save. As such, the Nationals enter the All-Star break under .500 after spending much of the last few months with a winning record.

Luis Garcia Jr. got chances to face lefties this weekend, went 1-for-5 with an infield single. Andres Chaparro pinch-hit for him just now with 2 on and 2 out in the 7th and grounded out to end the inning. Nats take a 3-2 lead to the 8th, with Andrew Alvarez still on the mound.

The Nationals take a 3-2 lead on a Jose Tena single, a Nasim Nunez (pinch-run) stolen base and a Jazz Chisholm Jr. throwing error on Keibert Ruiz's routine grounder to second.

Yes, the Nats lost the first two games of this series because the bullpen couldn't hold late leads. They've also missed multiple opportunities to make those leads bigger, stranding a bunch of runners in scoring position.
