Hey @BasicMountain can you explain from a game design perspective who these fixed wastelands are for at this point? Like, I'm not sure I see an appeal in maybe sometimes stopping that mill shark manland in standard at the expense of a worse manabase. I don't get it.

@fivewithflores I mean the only case I can remember of a demonstrated hybrid cheater was bertoncini with marked mopals, presumedly for shuffle cheats, and that was his 2nd time back and he was caught immediately. Seems loose to cheat two ways badly instead of one way skillfully.

What percentage of games do you think career cheaters cheat? Is it 100%? I think it might be 100%.

@Carmparens Has activism in profile. Works on DanDan project that steals idea from Nick Floyd and gives no credit. Riftbound: no comment on possibility of cheating by players in high level tournaments. Cool….

I have no plans to get involved with it.
My engagement with Riftbound is entirely to compete for the love of it, and I want to hold a firm line on that.

@CriticalEDH At the risk of asking a dumb question, what would cEDH look like without thoracle? It seems like a big chunk of the meta either actively focuses on it or has it as an option.

Underneath all of the debate and anger there is still an immense amount of passion for MTG. I want to acknowledge that, because we often get caught in the patterning of being against one another, but ultimately we are all on the same side of wanting things to be better.

Hilariously, turns out OP is actually referring to Commander players and cards designed for multiplayer when he talks about pigs and slop, which is an even wilder group to call names, considering they’re one of the strongest and best communities in gaming IMO.

I get the sentiment, I get the burnout, I get the feeling, but I don’t think calling the new players and collectors “pigs” that only “eat slop” is the correct analogy. They’re players and hobbyists, just like you and me. And some of the “slop” has been truly amazing sets.

@CriticalEDH A cEDH like format with some sort of limit like game changers does kinda sound interesting ngl. Deciding what to spend your strong slots on is one of the appeals of canlander.
It’s not cEDH, but the guts of an interesting idea are in their thought.

@BasicMountain To be honest that makes the overall design process seem extremely wack. Like, more wack than the card itself being all “what if we made the first enchantment land only really care about artifacts like we made the first enchantment set only really care about artifacts”.

@Mark_Confidant Yes, but I didn’t see the final version of the card and given that it was trying to achieve a bunch of goals I didn’t quite understand I doubt I would have said much even if I did. Regardless that was four years ago and pre-Opal unban.

This is clearly a more intuitive rules set, and if it necessitates a Saga ban that’s a double bonus.

Rules change: Urza's Saga no longer dies to Blood Moon, it instead remains a Mountain with every ability it gained across the last few chapters. This includes the create a Construct ability. Unreal buff
