Fighting cancer, Infmamatory bowel diseases and depression!!! Dear friends and followers, I’ve been quiet for a while, and today I’m changing that. Life has thrown some brutal punches my way, and for too long I faced them alone, in silence. No more. Back in 2010, I was at my peak—fittest I’d ever been, ripped, lifting heavy in the gym every day, running 5Ks three times a week, crushing 50k mountain bike rides twice weekly. Then my world shattered: 18 months of peeing blood, kidney stones, misdiagnosis… until 2012, when they found bladder cancer from a rare urachal remnant. Aggressive, scary, but after partial cystectomy and treatment, I fought back. Got my six-pack back, felt alive again. Then 2014: ruptured bowel and abdominal wall during surgery, infections, colitis flare after flare. By 2019, open Hartmann’s procedure—18 inches of colon removed, colostomy bag. Four tough but relatively stable years later, I chose reversal. Learning to use the toilet again was hell—days and weeks of silent tears. But I thought I was finally on the road to recovery. One step forward, three steps back. A year ago, new symptoms hit: bowel chaos, blisters from mouth to bum, skin issues, everything screaming inflammation. After a three-month wait on tests for leukaemia (due to a JAK2 blood mutation scare), February 2026 brought the diagnosis: Crohn’s disease. Now waiting on final scan and colonoscopy before treatment starts. Through ALL of this—cancers, surgeries, infections, chronic illness—I’ve kept working. I even launched a new business with my son: Smartwire.uk. We’ve built something real amid the chaos. The fight is real. Depression and anxiety have been heavy companions. But here’s what I’ve learned, and what I want you to hear: No matter how hard life gets, no matter the diagnoses, setbacks, pain, or loneliness—you can still achieve great things. You can rebuild. You can create, love, work, and rise again. I chose to battle most of this alone, not talking about it. That was a mistake. Today that changes. I’m seeing a wellbeing coach who’s helping me make sense of the mess, and it’s already lifting the weight. It’s easier—healthier—to talk to someone. To let people in. If you’re struggling in silence, reach out. To a friend, a coach, a doctor, even a stranger online. You’re not weak for needing support; you’re human. And you’re stronger than you know.
