I draw storyboards and comics, and sign up to Twitter when I'm not thinking straight. Which is most of the time.

@StoryBoomApp Thank you! There’s talk of putting together a book of the Fury Road Storyboards in the near future - would be nice to see them collected together. Fingers crossed!
English

@Mark_H_Sexton The numbers are mind-blowing; it’s incredible how much work you’ve put into this!
Most people have no idea how much a storyboard artist like you contributes to bringing a movie to life. Your imagination truly reshapes and elevates the story — it’s amazing work!
English

Ten years since #MadMaxFuryRoad was released??
So many memories over the 16 years that I was involved in its various iterations, from coming on to storyboard the film in late 1999 all the way through to working on the FURY ROAD comics in 2015, even as the film was released.

English

@StoryBoomApp Between Peter Pound, Brendan McCarthy and myself, we did 4018 frames covering about 2500 shots - plus about 8000 or so that were discarded through the boarding process. And these were all done on whiteboards and paper - no computers! I was responsible for about half of them…
English

@Mark_H_Sexton Looking at these storyboard numbers gave me the idea that you covered thousands of drawings. The amount of work is enormous. I only guess that you may have done around 2k shots, or it was even more?
English

@Mark_H_Sexton Holy crap, I would pay to read this. I'd love to have a graphic novel for MM from your artwork here.

@Mark_H_Sexton It's rare to find members at all, I only know one! But yes you're right. Here's hoping for more film work for all of us 🤞✨
English

Very much looking forward to seeing #Thunderbolts* - out today!
I had a busy few months in 2023 working on storyboards for the film with director @jakeschreier and producer Brian Chapek, just before the SAG & Writers' strikes.
Hope you all enjoy seeing it on the big screen!

English

@banannerbread I don’t know! I’d maybe get more film work, perhaps, but I’m happy living with my family in Oz. For you, it depends on the benefits you’d get as a member. There’s many folks far better placed than I to give good advice on that front.
English

@Mark_H_Sexton and I suppose that answers the question I would've asked you if you were a member, 'is it worth it?' maybe not 😂
English

@The_J_Stevenson Lots of other things as well, but really important too - take your ego out of it. It’s not YOUR story - it’s everyone’s story. You’re helping to make a film (or TV series or whatever) as good as you can possibly make it. Your ego is of tertiary importance!
English

@Mark_H_Sexton You’re a legend 🤩 what was your main guiding principle when working on storyboards?
English

@The_J_Stevenson Very important - always ask why you’re choosing shots - what does it do for the story? If it’s there just because it’s cool, then cut it. I strive to think as holistically as possible when doing boards - they’re there to help the filmmakers tell the story.
English

@The_J_Stevenson Great question. I always try for complete clarity - storyboards are a communication tool and I really believe they’re useless if people have to try and decipher what’s going on. That’s not because they’re drawn well, but because the ideas are clear.
English

@banannerbread No, based in Sydney. I’ve looked into the ADG but because of my location, they won’t touch me with a barge pole. ☹️
English

@Mark_H_Sexton Ah yes, sadly familiar but demonstrably false words 🥲 are you not LA based then? This stuff is so hard to navigate!
English

@banannerbread Weird but true - I tried to join the local filmworkers union here years ago and was told that “storyboard artists aren’t real film professionals nor are they necessary, so there’s no place for you here”.
English

@Mark_H_Sexton Weird question to ask under this post, but are you a Local 800 member? 👀
English

@bdgrabinski It's a career highlight for whoever was lucky enough to work on it. Stunning filmmaking.
English

...and soaking up as much as I could - it was a pivotal part of my filmmaking education, and my subsequent career owes a huge amount to George and the incredible film that he and his fellow filmmakers created.
So happy 10th anniversary #MadMaxFuryRoad!
