Bank Street clearly isn't working as it's designed right now. On-street parking leads to traffic congestion, louder streets, less safety, buses being stuck, and many more issues. A simple change that the city isn't looking at would make all of this better. forms.gle/yG5VakuBtyTTq7…

@iey0beeW I know you seem way too far down this rabbit hole to ever save yourself, but just in case you aren't, I'd like you to consider that you seriously seem to think wanting to keep our streets safe by use of speed cameras as "evil". If anyone here needs introspection, it's yourself.

They say this with absolutely no introspection. They see their line in the sand as noble, and justify all manners of evil to protect it.

@iey0beeW @KMLOnt @ColinDMello It seems like you might not understand what probabilities means. As you drive faster the probability that you make a mistake that ends up in an injury or death goes up :) Hope that helps!

@MarkoMiljus613 @KMLOnt @ColinDMello Most of those injuries were drivers below the limit. Are you suggesting that driving be banned? I know the amish would agree. They don't see a need to be in such a hurry as all drivers are.

@KMLOnt @ColinDMello Nobody is endangered by speeding? How many road deaths and injuries do you think we have every year Keegan? Hint it's tens of thousands!

@ColinDMello How about abolishing victimless crimes and revenue schemes like ‘speeding’ when no one is actually endangered?

@_MarkSutcliffe My bus is so unreliable I have to resort to using a personal vehicle that costs me much more than any tax increase that you could put on me and others in this city. Have you thought about making the services you provide good so that people can save money?

Ottawa families are under pressure from rising costs and the prospect of federal job cuts. That’s why we’ve kept tax increases lower than any other major city in Canada. Affordability remains a key pillar in the 2026 budget.

@Dustin_Carey @_MarkSutcliffe Oh just to be clear I'm unequivocally 1000% in support of speed cameras! I have been fighting for their support ever since they've been put in! I completely agree they're good for the short term. There's also other types of traffic calming that can be added in the short term!

I hear regularly from Ottawa residents that road safety and combatting speeding are among their top priorities. Since it was introduced by the provincial government in 2017, automated speed enforcement has proven to be an effective tool to combat speeding when used appropriately. Results show it leads to reduced speeds and it allows police to redeploy resources to other priorities. However, we are always open to ideas and look forward to working with the province to improve our approach to reducing speeding and improving safety.

@tanktotriumph "and the "high-end speeders" had dropped to three per cent. In just three months, overall compliance with the posted speed limit on Fisher Avenue had nearly quadrupled from a dismal 18 per cent to 65 per cent." I know people like yourself are too lazy to ever do research

@tanktotriumph cbc.ca/news/canada/ot… Before this camera was installed in October, 85 per cent of the vehicles passing by the school were clocked at up to 65 km/h, and one in 10 was travelling even faster. When the city measured again in late December, the 85th percentile topped out at 56 km/h

@tanktotriumph @_MarkSutcliffe Ever thought about how fewer kids will want to hang around any streets that people are speeding on? Why do you think kids spend less time outside these days lmao. This is you

@tanktotriumph @_MarkSutcliffe There is plenty of data if you bothered to look. Many of the cameras have only been in place for a short period of time anyways so to claim we'd somehow have tons of data from them is ridiculous, it's not like 10 kids are dying every year on each road to begin with.

@BrownWard21 Hi Councillor Brown, you mentioned today at council that you're in support of users paying for a service when discussing transit. Do you hold this same view for users paying for our roads? Would you be in support of user fees for your residents roads?

We’re expanding the Canadian Dental Care Plan. Starting today, Canadians aged 55-64 can apply. In the coming weeks, applications will open to Canadians aged 18-54.   Because of this plan, millions of people can now afford to see a dentist — some for the first time in decades. Soon, millions more will get that same care.
