I resigned yesterday from the Foreign Office. Having been bound by civil service impartiality for the past decade it’s liberating to be able finally to speak my mind. I intend to make up for lost time. The Foreign Office, in my view, is in many ways failing. As is much of Whitehall. I’ve written for The Times digging into some of the reasons why. Fixing the state machine is absolutely vital - none of the fundamental problems afflicting our country can be dealt with unless we do so. There’s obviously much more to say. And so watch this space. thetimes.com/comment/column…

When Marlowe’s British Kitchen opened in Leeds, Rabbi Gilbert asked the Muslim owners, Jenade Yamin and Arabaab “Paddy” Munir if they would consider making it kosher as well as halal. They did not have to. It meant change and cost. Paddy thought about it and said yes. Now there are halal and kosher fryers side by side and one long queue for fish and chips. Orthodox Jews, Muslim families, neighbours from every background, ordering the same national dish. Everyone remained unmistakably themselves, they simply widened the table and in that small act, you glimpse the country we can still choose to be. (My grandfather was a kosher caterer, known for his fish. I inherited none of his skill!) @JewishNewsUK

Adam the pissed off veteran™️
As someone who’s a US veteran but half British, I’ve got some shit to say. During my 10 years in the Navy and Army I’ve spent a lot of time working close with NATO operatives from all over Europe. The British soldiers used to always make fun of me because I had a US flag on my shoulder, always being told (you’re In the wrong uniform). Until 2009 when I was in Afghanistan operating medevac flights from Bagram to Ramstein and we had about 60 UK soldiers being flown back, missing limbs, almost fatal wounds and even a few deaths. That was when I realized that It didn’t matter of which flag was on our uniforms, we were all brothers and sisters fighting in the common enemy. 457 British soldiers lives were lost fighting a war we asked them to jump into and you know what, they did without fuckin hesitation!! That’s what you call a true ally. A true hero. And real brother in arms. So to that fat orange piece of shit who said that they were standing “a little back off the front lines” I want to remind all of his boot licking cult members that I have a friend who’s a former royal marine, that lost his left arm and right leg for being “a little back off the front lines” and even though he’s living his life with his family, he made the ultimate sacrifice. When I spoke to him today he wasn’t just angry, he felt betrayed. I reassured him that you don’t know how grateful we are. So to all who are laughing at this………. Go FUCK YOURSELVES!!! I couldn’t be more proud to serve my country during the hell that we went through in both Iraq and Afghanistan, but I couldn’t be more prouder than serving along side my NATO forces. Because if they weren’t there, I would probably be dead today!!! FUCK TRUMP ALL THE WAY TO HELL AND HIS BOOTLICKING ASSHOLE SIDEKICKS MAY THEY ROT IN PISS!!!!!

It would be better if we scrapped that silly over-25s ID bollocks and went back to landlords turning a blind eye to the teenagers having a few beers and playing pool in the taproom. Maybe we wouldn't have quite so many miserable, lonely, socially inept young people that way.

£10 fine… or £180. Jack Carrod logic. 💀 This week’s challenge was “bring something inflatable.” He hired a full bouncy castle. 😂 @JackCarrod

@BracknellTownFC Very poor decision. If the guy who played last night is supposed to be the replacement then the club is in trouble! Not a patch on Eacott; no presence, very timid, never came for a cross. Can’t even take a go kick?!

Today, the club can confirm the departure of long-time servant Michael Eacott. Michael joined us ahead of the 2021/22 season from Sutton Common Rovers and has been outstanding across 186 appearances, keeping 59 clean sheets. He played a pivotal role in our title-winning campaign, conceding just 12 goals all season, and was instrumental in back-to-back FA Cup runs, reaching the First Round Proper against Ipswich Town and Cambridge United respectively. Everyone at the club thanks Mike for his incredible service and commitment, and we wish him every success in the future ❤️🧤

I can't tell you the level of disgust and shame I feel about the events of the last 36 hours. 👇 ➡️ Two years of hate parades, given cover by many in Labour, legitimised by last week's recognition of "Palestine", all culminating in yesterday's appalling, but by now sadly foreseeable, antisemitic attack. ➡️ The usual state and much media obfuscation about the killer's origins and motives. This evening we discover he was also on bail for sexual assault. What else might we yet learn? ➡️ Last night's shameful and intimidating pro-Palestine demonstrations. ➡️ Today, a seemingly powerless Home Secretary and Met, unsupported by the London Mayor, pleading with a bunch of leftist agitators not to do the same tomorrow & next weekend. ➡️ A government so out of touch with feeling in the Jewish community that it could send the Deputy PM to say "don't let hate divide us" and expect that to be good enough. David Lammy deserved all the heckling he got this afternoon. I never imagined that anti-semitism would ever return to Britain, still less in this virulent, dangerous form. The weakness, appeasement, bad faith, and sheer incompetence of the British state have been on show these last two days as almost never before. We are right to be angry. Yet who is really surprised? And who is going to turn the tide?
