When I reported the bug about non-ascending blocktimes, I didn't expect it to have such an impact. During the discussion @bushstar mentioned that this likely has also a positive impact on the blocktime distribution (less block bursts). And from the data we see on changi, he was right! Let me show you the likely future of blocktime distribution on @defichain (disclaimer: changi is a testnet, so mainnet distribution might vary): I am taking the time difference between the times when my node received the block. So the "actual" time between blocks perceived for the user. overall already shows a massive change. mainnet has a strong skew to the low numbers (due to block bursts) while changi is far better distributed. zooming in on the low numbers you see the difference even clearer. It will be interessting to see if we get a higher concentration around 30sec (target blocktime) on mainnet when difficulty adjustments kick in. and what I like the most: how the distribution changes on the long block times: far less "waiting minutes for a block" on changi already:
