🚨FAA Investigates Pilots Meowing And Barking Over The Radio At DCA 👇
The Federal Aviation Administration is actively investigating an audio recording from Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport, where pilots were heard meowing and barking over an air traffic control radio frequency.
In a viral audio clip, pilots operating flights in the area reportedly disrupted official communications by making continuous animal noises. The air traffic controller quickly became frustrated with the ongoing disruption, stating over the radio, "You guys, you need to be professional." The controller also criticized their behavior and career status by saying they were "still flying an RJ," an insult directed at regional jet pilots.
This type of disruption is a known problem in the aviation industry, specifically on the 121.5 MHz frequency, which is internationally designated for emergency use and monitored by all commercial aircraft. For years, an issue of unprofessional conduct has existed where pilots make animal noises on this frequency, despite strict rules against non-operational chatter. Aviation authorities consider it a severe safety risk because unauthorized transmissions physically block genuine distress calls from other aircraft. The FAA is now looking to identify the individuals involved, though enforcement remains difficult due to the anonymity of analog radio transmissions.

This situation was entirely avoidable.
A bit of common sense from the outset would have saved organisers – and fans – a lot of disruption.
