England to make late decision on Declan Rice availability but optimistic he can shake off illness to start versus Argentina. Still feeling the effects of sickness bug but condition is improving. bbc.com/sport/football…
@TTregonia@BelRedDevils You’d do a lot better job of making your point without ending it with an idiotic statement like “It amazes me how little Americans know about their own country” right after providing the hot take that a sport with outdoor stadiums draws larger attendance than indoor arena sports.
Literally every set of fans I’ve bumped into have said they hope we beat Argentina. People from countries not even in the world cup. Never realised they were universally disliked like this.
Big difference between an English club and national team. Can’t stand Harry Kane and other players from rival clubs - Chelsea, City, Spurs, etc. Never want to see them win. I could stomach it if they were same nationality as me, but too many in English team to support them. Norway with Haaland lesser of two evils. Simple as that.
Argentina with Romero and Lisandro will be just as bad as Kane though if I’m honest
(And get the f*ck out of here with your gatekeeping. IDGAF whose support you want. Supporting 3 Lions not a pre-requisite for supporting Arsenal and would be asinine for anyone to suggest so)
The humidity in Miami is absurd, with a heat advisory warning, and there is some potential this pitch temperature matches “the hottest World Cup game ever” - Ireland-Mexico, also in Florida
Great as Miami is, could have picked 15 other venues?

@MarlinGunner@BelRedDevils You got an asskicking from Belgium 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 United States of Dumdum couldn't even beat a country of 12 million 🤣🤣 the embarrassment is still so much bigger for you. Atleast we go out against the European champion.
@62dirigeerlln@ellasbooktwt@jakob54008@BelRedDevils US First Army joined British and Canadians in liberating Belgium from German occupation in 1944
Soviets not involved.
600,000 US troops then defended Belgium from German counter offensive in the Battle of the Bulge into 1945. Belgium was finally completely liberated in Feb 1945
You realize that the US has massive national sporting success, right? Just look at any Olympic Games. We also have the most successful professional and semi-professional (NCAA) leagues in the world. Soccer/football is not prioritized and is behind other nations, but that does not mean that our country does not produce the “good feelings” from national sporting success. We just rely a lot less on soccer/football while other nations prioritize it far and above all other sports
@AlexiLalas it's not "greed" on their part, it's a system that just prioritises financialisation over what it's about.
what about the idea that actual public health and team spirit - to go with the good feeling national sporting success brings, as we can see! - is actually a public good?
@MiguelDelaney Pity, my response would have been: As I’ve said, I love “free” soccer. But I just don’t see the men and women who make their living in American youth soccer as greedy because soccer isn’t free.
@MiguelDelaney Will FIFA sanction or fine Mexico again for their usage of the “banned” goal kick chant during El Tri games or will they look the other way and let it slide?
After the Balogun controversy, and Fifa facing more pressure than they have for years, I am doing a Q and A on the entire issue - and what next
Send through Qs here

Are you dense or just completely ignorant? The Soviets would have taken the rest of Europe if the US was not there to keep them in check. The iron curtain would have spread across the whole continent. You think England on their own would have stopped Stalin from taking all of Western Europe after the fall of Berlin?
