I literally do not understand why the trump administration is deciding to throw away what minuscule credibility they have left for an ICE agent who filmed himself murdering an American citizen.

We have a lot ahead of us in 2026. Taking Greenland shouldn’t be on that list. Instead, we should continue building relationships—through trade, tourism, cultural exchange, and indigenous governance—rather than sending provocative messages that undo decades of trust.

I continue to hope the administration’s rhetoric on Greenland is nothing more than posturing for a new era of cooperation, because any effort to claim or take the territory by force would degrade both our national security and our international relationships. We have a long history of close cooperation with Greenland, dating back to World War II and continuing today with the Pituffik Space Base, and have always been able to achieve our mutual goals through strong diplomacy with its people. As Greenland charts its future, we must see it as an ally, not an asset, and focus on continued partnership rather than possession.

Less than a year ago, President Biden upped the Maduro bounty to $25,000,000. Removing Maduro was positive for Venezuela. As a Democrat, I don’t understand why we can’t acknowledge a good development for Venezuelans—and how deft our military’s execution of that plan was.

Five years ago today, our Capitol was attacked. The events of that day are still deeply felt, particularly by those who experienced the violence firsthand. I’m grateful to the U.S. Capitol Police, whose bravery protected Congress then and continues to do so every day.
