@Dachsjaeger Because the computers of today have a lot more processing power and memory, I think it's made many developers quite lazy in how they write their code. They're fine with memory leaks and various performance problems, because they don't affect us that much with current hardware.

I have to quote this as it is - unfortunately - horribly true. Modern software for productivity, word processing, and to a degree even web browsing is just a lot slower than it used to be with questionably return for the user in features or ease of use.

@SegaSnatchers @ModernVintageG It's abandonware. IIRC the source code got leaked and the dev behind Nesticle got so butthurt over it he decided to stop developing it. Should've just open sourced it TBH. You can still find the source code online.

@ModernVintageG I think the PS6 might not have an optical drive at all, for any model. Or maybe it will have it since Sony created the Blu-ray format and they want people to be able to still play movies on their PlayStation. But yeah.

@ModernVintageG Yeah, they don't care about preservation. But is it possible they're just being more honest about their intentions, for an all digital gaming market, than other companies. I mean, Sony also launched a PS5 version without the optical drive.

@ModernVintageG The pandemic really did a number on this console generation. Supply chain issues and chip shortages made it feel like current gen only just started. Don't know how Sony and Microsoft will be able to salvage this generation. Maybe next-gen is just around the corner.
