I met today with Børge Brende, President and Chief Executive Officer of the World Economic Forum (WEF), on the sidelines of the Annual Meetings of the Global Future Councils and Cybersecurity 2025, organised by the UAE Government in partnership with the Forum. Our discussions focused on ways to further strengthen our strategic partnership across key areas that shape the path of sustainable development. The UAE continues to play an active role in driving constructive international dialogue and fostering cooperation among governments to develop practical solutions to global challenges, solutions that enhance the quality of life for communities and advance prosperity and sustainable growth for future generations.

After months of intense prep, through countless meetings and back-and-forths, it never truly felt real until now: the first Syrian president in New York for the UN General Assembly in 58 years. 🇸🇾 The first Syrian president present in engagements both inside and outside of the UN, signaling to everyone — that Syria is back, on our own terms, open to all and ready to engage. A clear break from the dark past of the Assad regime.

In the presence of His Highness Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, I met Larry Fink, Chairman and CEO of BlackRock, and congratulated him on his appointment as Interim Co-Chair of the World Economic Forum’s Board of Trustees. We also discussed avenues of collaboration between the UAE and the World Economic Forum, market trends, the role of tokenization in broadening investment opportunities, and the progress of the AI Infrastructure Partnership.
