I know it's not necessarily a formal magisterial statement, but when a pope says explicitly: "I condemn capital punishment," that seems pretty significant.

@CDinnocent9707 @mfjlewis You're not a "strong Catholic" if you don't respect the teaching authority of the Pope just because he doesn't endorse your politics. Humble yourself and try to discern what God is saying to you through the Holy Father.

@mfjlewis The more he speaks the less I like him. I am a strong Catholic. I am also a very intelligent human. I may not have been a cleric like the Pope BUT Christ has been my companion all my life and I choose what I like from this Pope.

@JourneyJunkieJ @nimnooy913 I agree, to a point. This is a lot of drama about a FREE show. However, the management did handle it badly. They should have explained what was going to happen and then give those who were not selected the option to leave or stay for the livestream.

Yet again, I had to block a large number of trad Catholic trolls, mostly anonymous, including some nasty antisemites. I’m convinced that this sub-culture has become a refuge for disaffected and angry young men.
