Many Central Asians look "European" with light brown hair and blue/green eyes. Here's a historian I met in Kazakhstan with the best armor collection I've ever seen at the world nomad games in 2024. He has blue-green eyes and looks similar enough to us where I was pleasantly surprised. In my opinion, this is a fair representation of the average Kazakh or Tatar. Kazakhs can often be found praising themselves online for their unique European adjacent features of which I can agree with. In Kyrgyzstan, it is common for children born from parents with black eyes and black hair to have white/blonde hair with blue eyes. I have had several students with this unique genetic disposition. One was named Yenesei. He informed me that he was named Yenesei because of his genetic disposition, which makes him look like his ancestors who came from Altai — this is a local description of all members with this genetic composition. Many local girls complain that they wish they had blue or green eyes with blonde hair like their ancestors. It is so common that once a semester, I have exactly one student who nearly breaks down in tears about this. In my honest, personal observation, it seems all locals and scholars believe they had green eyes with organge blonde hair and essentially looked Irish throughout the "Saki Empire" as they call it. It appears that they began to mix with East Asian groups in the 11 or 1200s, perhaps due to Mongol or Manchurian invasion (who both majority had orange hair and green eyes) bringing Chinese genetics into their mix. As I do not speak Russian, it is extremely difficult for me to learn the exact time frames and perspectives, but this is generally what seems agreed upon. Note that I am not making a claim in the valuation of appearance. I am simply noting my objective observations from my time with locals in an attempt to disagree with the meme in reference.
