🎃 Private Practice Doesn’t Need to Be Scary 👻 Does running your private practice ever feel like walking through a haunted house?
🕸️ Empty diary?
💀 Website nightmares?
🧛‍♀️ Marketing monsters lurking in the dark? You’re not alone — and it doesn’t have to be this way.

3 Simple profile tweaks that Private Practice Counsellors can make- ‘Big doors swing on little hinges'- W. Clement Stone Sometimes, small things we can do can have a disproportionate effect; those small hinges can swing big doors for us.  When marketing your private practice, a few simple tweaks to your directory listing or website can make a big impact.  Here are three things that you can try today 1. Take a moment to reflect on the number of times you mention 'I' and 'Me' as opposed to 'You' in your profile or website introduction. If it's all about you and your qualifications, you might miss a crucial opportunity to connect with your prospective clients and address the issue they seek help with.  2. Can your website be understood by a teenager? Too many counsellor profiles and websites are written in counsellor speak. If your market is the general public, and not counsellors, looking for support then it needs to be understood by a teenager with no counselling knowledge. Try running it past teenagers, you know. Change the language to something understandable to the public.  3. Remember, a picture is worth a thousand words. A smiling, professional picture of you on the profile and website can make you more approachable and trustworthy. It should reflect the person they are going to meet once working with you. A picture taken on a smartphone is good enough, preferably taken by someone else rather than a selfie.  Why don't we review where you are in your Private Practice and where you would like to be? Book a Game Plan call with me. You are not obligated to join my Grow My Practice programme; all you are doing at this point is saying maybe. calendly.com/martinthogg/gr…

@JamesTCobbler How about rebrand as ‘The Watch Lab by Timpson’ and probably do your phone screen repairs there too.

I’m after some advice…we opened a new Watch Lab shop in St Albans a few weeks ago and it’s not doing as well as I’d hoped. In fact yesterday it took no money at all! We have added a simple sign in the window saying “watch repairs”, but do you have any other ideas?!

Red Velvet Cake As I left my apartment building today at 8 am, they were stocking the windows at the newest addition to Birmingham's Culinary Scene, EL&N Cafe Bar. The last thing I need as I am getting 'Beach Ready' for my holidays is cake on my doorstep! Too much of a temptation. Fortunately, they will all be sold out before I get home. It got me thinking about Red Velvet Cake, my favourite. As counsellors, we can see the market of potential clients as either a slice of cake or a BIG whole cake...stick with me here. If our appetite for clients is like a slice of cake, we can all fight over every client we get, work with every client who enquires whether they are the best client for us, and work in isolation to grab every slice we can. There is a better alternative. What would it be like to develop a Private Counselling Practice that you love, working with the right clients while making the income you deserve? Book a free Game Plan call with me to identify how to close the gap between where you are and where you want to be in your Private Practice and discuss whether or not I can support you in getting to your goal BOOK A GAME PLAN CALL  lnkd.in/ep6bTc-N Warmly,  Martin

What is the difference between talking to a friend and talking to a therapist? Both can be really helpful, but actually the experience can be quite different. Therapy allows a safe space to discuss what is going on for you, free from judgement. #counsellingbirmingham
