Most clashes involve short-stay holidaymakers, drunk, entitled, ill-educated Orcs not long-term visitors. These same types used to head to Spain, Tenerife, or Greece. Post-COVID, Instagram creators shouted “Come to Thailand”… and the world listened. With 38 million expected in 2028, mass tourism is creating stress, poor enforcement, and cultural friction. Foreign Orcs are only a small fraction of tourists, but highly visible when videos go viral. Tighter visas might cut overstayers, but they won’t create respect or solve root problems.
