GOOD NEWS: Nigerian Army troops have neutralised a top ISWAP commander, Abou Ameer, during a failed infiltration attempt on a military formation in Madagali LGA, Adamawa State. The incident, which occurred on Thursday, March 19, 2026, involved Abou Ameer recently appointed as Qaid of Pulka following the killing of Modu Kunduli in Bama LGA who led the insurgent assault. The attack was repelled by troops after a heavy exchange of fire, resulting in significant insurgent casualties. Several senior ISWAP figures, including Abu Ali Jango, Jundulla, and Saleh Madagali, were wounded in the engagement. Troops also recovered weapons and intelligence materials, underscoring sustained operational pressure on insurgent networks in the North East.

BANDITS ARRESTED AT AKURE AIRPORT
The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) confirmed in a press statement that four suspected bandits were apprehended near Akure Airport in Ondo State today. This followed a coordinated security operation involving aviation and local security agencies.
The arrest came after a distress alert about suspicious individuals spotted behind the airport perimeter near the Eleyewo community. Joint Operation Forces promptly launched a joint search. During the operation some individuals attempted to flee but four suspects were eventually apprehended by the joint security team. They were subsequently handed over to the Nigeria Police Force Area Command for further interrogation.
