Two of many special moments from the launch party for #ReadingLessons. Friends from my first school, inc the head of English who appointed me and the NQTs who I mentored in 2001-2. And me with my own former English teacher, without whom none of this would happened.

I paid a visit to the unsurpassably glorious @childrensbkshop today. The deal is that if you ring them and tell them what inscription you would like in one of my books, I pop in regularly and do the job. Simples.

@Scorhill @william_whyte Oh, how very sad. Vivid memories of that fabulous 18th century literature first year paper and his The Beggar’s Opera gathering. Always so enthusiastic and encouraging.

@william_whyte @MaryAreading Little things: without fail Clive sloshed his coffee & wd empty his saucer into his cup. One time, before a college dinner, I was a pair of cuff links short and Clive entrusted me with his father’s. He was evidently proud his dad’s career as a policeman.

Because you don’t have to join @TeachFirst first! Today I leave @gmcuk (and previous civil service career) for new adventures in secondary teaching. Quite the time to join the profession #TeamEnglish. Expect YA reading thoughts rather than health policy after today. Wish me luck.
