🚨🇮🇷 There’s a place in the Persian Gulf that carries most of Iran’s economy on its back, Kharg Island. Roughly 90% of Iran’s oil exports leave the country from this single terminal, which makes it the obvious wartime target. Capture it, and you choke off Tehran’s main stream of hard currency almost overnight. There’s just one problem. Kharg sits practically on Iran’s doorstep, well within range of missiles, drones, and artillery from the mainland. So even if the U.S. or Israel seized it, holding it would be a nightmare. Destroying the terminal would be easier, but wiping out millions of barrels of export capacity would also punch a very large hole in global oil markets. Source: Beyond GeoQuest
