The Hadith prophecising ISIS: Ali Ibn Abi Talib said: “If you see the black banners, remain where you are and move neither your hands nor legs A group of weak people who no one values will appear; -Their hearts are like blocks of iron -They are the people of the Dawlah (state) -They will not be loyal to any pact or agreement -They call to the truth, but they are not from its people -Their names are Kunyahs (Abu XYZ) -Their surnames are cities (al-Baghdadi) -Their hair is long and untied, like women's -They will disagree among themselves, Then Allah will give the truth to who he wishes” Narrated by Nu'aym Ibn Hammad in al-Fitan (573) The Hadith is weak Sanad-wise, but we know that a Hadith having a weak chain doesn't automatically mean the Prophet ﷺ didn't say it, just that it hasn't reached us in a strong enough chain for us to confidently attribute it to him However weak Ahadith can be strengthened by multiple ways, one of which is when they prophecise something which is carried out, like this Hadith which matches ISIS' description down to the letter, giving us confidence that it does trace back to the Prophet ﷺ (via Sayyiduna Ali, as this is something he could have only gotten from him ﷺ)
