@libraryofquirky I personally loved this book as well. Hopefully the students in that library will have their interest peeked by the damaged pages and find a way to read the entire book.

Jason Reynolds' thoughts on the current book bans speaks volumes,"As adults we want children to be better than we are, and in order to do so, they must have the information that we did not have. So to stop that information, really makes us all hypocrites." #FReadom

Books with queer content aren't inappropriate or pornographic. They're books. Books belong in classroom and school libraries. If a parent does not want his/her/their child to read a book, fine. But that parent has no right -- no right -- to say other kids cannot read those books.

Tip Tuesday! When presenting in Google Slides, PowerPoint, or Keynote, press B on your keyboard to pause and show a black screen. Press W to pause and show a white screen. Pressing any key resumes your presentation.

Growing up, I wasn’t assigned a book written by a living author until I was a junior in high school. That’s a problem. Kids — ALL kids — need to see themselves reflected in the characters of the books they read, and in the creators of those books too.

What is your favorite middle grade book that has an element of magical realism but isn't full-blown fantasy? Some of my favorites are The Seventh Wish, When You Reach Me, and Long Way Down (which I guess is technically YA but I think still good for older MG readers). Recs??

#schoollibrarians are #anecessitynotaluxury Fostering a love of reading in our students is one of the most important parts of our multi-faceted job. Information literacy instruction? ✅ Reader’s Advisory?✅ Curricular support and PD for our colleagues? ✅ Resource curation? ✅
