Tells the baby he doesn’t have a mother. The baby cries while the man laughs. Being sold is a joke I guess? Why is this legal?

Is the Covenant of Redemption a dry, dusty, scholastic speculation? By no means! "This is love: the Father sends the Son in love; the Son goes in love; and the Father and Son pour out the Spirit in love." - @jvfesko Signed, Sealed, Delivered, pg 35

It’s much easier to back out of a spot than into one. I don’t understand you people.

I understand and support the idea of exploration of the moon, Mars, and other planets. What I don't understand is the desire to live there. To the best of my knowledge, there's no air on those planets. Thus, to live there people must be indoors all the time. To be out of doors, you'll be in a spacesuit. If you want to live indoors all the time, you can do that on the earth.

The empty tomb is credible in its historicity and honesty. That means you can’t brush #Jesus aside as if the whole thing were built on legends and gullible people. This matters for believers: If you battle doubts, remember: your struggles don’t mean #Christianity is false & they don’t necessarily mean you’re less of a Christian. Some of Christ’s own people stumbled, hesitated, & feared before they came to clarity & courage. This matters for unbelievers: Don’t flatter yourself into thinking your objections are too sophisticated for Christianity. The gospel isn’t afraid of scrutiny. It’s faced them for 2,000 years! Bring your questions to Jesus.

A few lines later he says, "But we, O Lord, behold we are Thy little flock; possess us as Thine, stretch Thy wings over us, and let us fly under them. Be Thou our glory; let us be loved for Thee, and Thy word feared in us." The Gospel is the antidote to pride!

"Hence especially it comes that men do neither purely love nor fear Thee. And therefore dost Thou resist the proud, and givest grace to the humble: yea, Thou thunderest down upon the ambitions of the world, and the foundations of the mountains tremble." - Confessions, Book X

The prayer from our prayer meeting today was from Augustine on pride: "To wish, namely, to be feared and loved of men, for no other end, but that we may have a joy therein which is no joy? A miserable life this and a foul boastfulness!"

@danborvan And it's not a new problem. "Sentimentality" is one of the main problems Machen identified in Christianity and Liberalism.

STUNNING🚨: Artemis II crew captured a stunning image of Earth this morning from 41,000 miles away. The first time since 1972 that humans have seen a crescent Earth in full.

@JeffTaylorLR This is why I've never really been able to make sense of accounts of the Mosaic administration that don't include something like republication. What curse of the Law is Christ suffering, if it's all simply grace? Did he die for apostates?

Judgment on Old‑Covenant Israel was never the final judgment—it was a typological intrusion of it. Christ was born under that typological covenant so He could bear its antitypological curse, the curse of the Adamic covenant of works. The shadow pointed to the judgment He bore so the substance would never fall on us. #MeredithGKline

@IVMiles So funny to contrast with all the integralists calling for new crusades, though.

@presbycast What's funny about NETTR is that it's a lot like an open borders policy. You are basically telling people they have a huge opening to come in and do or say absolutely whatever they want without being deported.

"Christian Nationalism" has a cahootment problem. This almost entirely online movement relies on sycophantic mutuals, where clicks and likes are everything. And some of their great thinkers saddled CN early on with the "friend-enemy" distinction of Nazi jurist Carl Schmitt, resulting in the corrosive idea of "no enemies to the right" (NETTR). The result is that the movement has no immune system whatsoever. The respectable guys are inseparably in cahoots with the most transgressive and hateful. Disavowal (or even mild public criticism) equals compromise and defeat, disabling discernment. Ethos is more important than ethics. The dynamics of audience capture are certainly at work.

The strategy of never apologizing, never retracting, and even doubling down no matter the circumstances is a type of false performative masculinity that has absolutely nothing to do with truth or virtue. The type of man who will never correct a mistake or retract a statement is, ultimately, not displaying masculinity, but rather cowardice. He fears man rather than God.
Eli McGowan@elimcgowan

We are well past the time for Stephen Wolfe (@PerfInjust) to publicly retract his statement that Michael Spangler is “a friend and a good man.”

Fixed it 👊🏼 • Hebrews 2:17: “…so that he might become a merciful and faithful high priest in the service of God, to make propitiation for the sins of the people” • Hebrews 3:1: “…consider Jesus, the apostle and high priest of our confession” • Hebrews 4:14–15: “…we have a great high priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus, the Son of God…for we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but one who in every respect has been tempted as we are, yet without sin” • Hebrews 5:5–10: “…Christ did not exalt himself to be made a high priest, but was appointed by Him…designated by God a high priest after the order of Melchizedek.” • Hebrews 6:20: “…having become a high priest forever after the order of Melchizedek.” • Hebrews 7:26: “…it was indeed fitting that we should have such a high priest, holy, innocent, unstained, separated from sinners, and exalted above the heavens.” • Hebrews 8:1: “…we have such a high priest, one who is seated at the right hand of the throne of the Majesty in heaven” • Hebrews 9:11: “…when Christ appeared as a high priest of the good things that have come…” • Hebrews 10:21: “…since we have a great priest over the house of God” #Jesus #ChristAlone #priesthood
