With the generous fund from the #Leakey Foundation I will start with revival of excavation in #Khudji, #Tajikistan. Khudji provided the only hominin remains (#Neanderthal) in the whole country.

In our new research led by @a_kafash and supervised by Trine K. Nielsen and @JCSvenning we identified the Levant as an interbreeding zone for Neanderthals and modern humans.
Ecological niche models facilitate paleoanthropological studies in a way that was not possible before!

It actually happened. The final paper of my PhD is now published! Why are sunbirds so colourful? Apparently there is no easy solution, but genetic and geographic differentiation seem to be the key players!
