With the generous fund from the #Leakey Foundation I will start with revival of excavation in #Khudji, #Tajikistan. Khudji provided the only hominin remains (#Neanderthal) in the whole country.

In our new research led by @a_kafash and supervised by Trine K. Nielsen and @JCSvenning we identified the Levant as an interbreeding zone for Neanderthals and modern humans. Ecological niche models facilitate paleoanthropological studies in a way that was not possible before!
