I think it's wild how deep the denial runs when it comes to batteries. People don’t realize how fragile the current state of battery tech really is—and how much of it is built on dependency, not innovation. (a thread on commercial battery)

@Material_HM's 3D-printed battery development continues with our 523 LMNC cathode, representing the 3rd unique battery chemistry printed this year. The 523 LMNC cathode shown is fabricated with our Beta 2.0 HYBRID3D manufacturing system that integrates FDM and Nanocomposite extrusion with a low-power DMLS process. Our specialized method allows for precise control of the microstructure and performance. This innovation eliminates the current collectors, resulting in freestanding cathodes. Initial test data suggest good electrochemical performance. The smooth voltage profile and substantial capacity utilization indicate the effectiveness of our method. The end-of-charge voltage fluctuations are likely attributed to the formation of the SEI layer on the lithium anode, and have already been rectified. materialx.co
