@xebecjoyboydni @rirokpik Yeah for the sake of clarity. But there are swathes of people in the American interior whose ancestors from Britain are 4 centuries deep, identify simply as 'American' and know of no other ethnic self-identity.

Serious question: Why aren't white people called European Americans. Everyone else is: African American Native American Hispanic American.

@Ieanettes @wolmanj The ethnic Danes predate the modern state. You used to be one with the other Nordics, the Kalmar Union, and now you don't.

@wolmanj What? No. Denmark is not defined as a state of a specific ethnicity. It refers to “the Danish people,” but in practice that means citizens, not an ethnic group - i.e. a civic nation, not an ethnic one.

@GSVBemusementPk Can you name another country that explicitly defines itself as the state of a specific ethnicity?

@favelaoverlord "An anonymous former Iranian soldier shared with an Iranwire" Also, a bit rich coming from the country that made movies like Red Dawn. But unlike US mainland invasion by North Korea (LOL!) the Iran-Iraq war was real, defensive and existential.

@robertofcanada @Anonymous199959 A behavior that doesn't come naturally but incentivized by the liberal state who view the white majority (indigenous or colonial, alike) as a threat (because it is disproportionately follows the interests of "the king of Albania").

@MathetesO12632 @Anonymous199959 No I was going to say using terms like “White man” to refer to the enemy of the Muslims as opposed to the Epstein class or the powers that be. If they said the Japanese man on their YouTube channel they would get a shuriken thrown at them.

@robertofcanada And a misunderstanding of the pre-modern caliphate or polities in general. An unironic cause of the Arab Revolt (and thus breakup of the Ottoman Empire) was the centralization effort of the Tanzimat. Modern countries with imperial sizes usually brutally destroyed local customs.

Dawkins is more intelligent than 99% of the people making fun of him and ‘if AI can be just as capable as us without being conscious, why did we develop consciousness in the first place?’ is a great question

@ParishStoner @RogueScholarPr For Shias 'taqiyya' means conceiling specific doctrinal differences that could get them killed/persecuted. But taqiyya according to the GWOT Islamophobic culture war sense was only really done by truly fringe micro-sects like the Alawites that believe in wild doctrines.

Taqqiyah is a hella sick ethnic gaslighting accomplishment if the sand people aren't lying about it being a jewish invention. The sunnis told me it was a Shia thing, the Shias told me I'm retarded it isnt real, that would be a real exercise of global control through narrative alone if it were true. Problem with an ethic like that is an outside can literally never know if its true lol

Judaism and Islam both allow lying to outsiders, while Christianity produces people like Kant who argue that it’s immoral to lie to a murderer about where his intended victim is hiding. Hard not to see that as a weakness

@KingJalius @AcademicAgent_X @KingJalius Islamophobia is basically "allowable bigotry" to redirect native anger away from the elites for their own purposes but not to the extent of destabilizing inter-communal violence (cf. the quick putdown of the Southport riot).

@KingJalius @AcademicAgent_X Because it's not in the elite interest (neither is genocide of Muslims, btw, only anti-Islam bigotry hence simultaneous sponsorship of TR and his numerous jailtime). As long as neoliberal capitalism is the vehicle of the elite, mass immigration will continue on.

@DomTechnostate "Tail does not wag the dog" assumes the "tail" isn't actually an extension of the brain to which the rest of the dog's anatomy is in service. Communists misread this because of who their founding theorist is. Especially embarrassing since it was the USSR who helped early Israel.

Its not lost on me that pro-Palestine sentiment has become more palatable as the decolonial and anti-imperialist aspect of it has dwindled in favor of social democratic compatible phrasemongering about taxes and "foreign influence"

thesis: science is the opposite of religion antithesis: science is just the religion of modernity synthesis: science is the same type of thing as a religion in terms of how it fits into a human brain. but unlike other religious traditions, the scientific community has developed ritual practices that cause their religious beliefs to systematically come closer and closer to corresponding with the actual structure of reality (with occasional error modes)

The Faithful Bard (Max)
When Emperor Julian (the Apostate) had an anti-Christian meltdown, he attempted to rebuild the Jerusalem Temple for the Jews in order to discredit Christianity. As work began to clear the ruins of the former temple, a terrible earthquake struck, killing several people and setting the project back. When the workers resumed construction, a mysterious fire burst forth from the ruins, burning several workers to death. The project was eventually abandoned. This event is corroborated by Jewish, Christian, and pagan sources. The irony is that those who survived the “holy fire” converted to Christianity on the spot. It was total humiliation for the Jews and pagans. In short, Julian attempted to “bless Israel,” and God said, “Nope.” Instead, Julian was ran through by a Persian spear.

The Bible is clear: those who bless Israel will be blessed.

@Sain4847 Her conception of "ethno-religion" only makes sense in the backdrop of low-church Protestantism and globalized American pop culture; neither of which are culturally deep.

Setting aside that "ethnoreligions" are usually produced developments under modernity (identification, codification, etc.), most "ethnoreligions" are small, geographically-bound sects, with tight restrictions on outreach+conversion. Literally the opposite of Catholicism or Islam
Lydia Kauppi@lydiakauppi

This is why I argue Catholicism is an ethnoreligion like Judaism and Islam. If you were born Catholic, you’re never not Catholic even if you’re not Catholic
