Earlier today, we addressed the media to update the country on our petition filed in the Constitutional Court, arising from the widespread illegalities and irregularities that marred the 2026 general elections. Our petition is anchored on the following grounds: i) The involvement of the army in the electoral process; ii) The failure of biometric machines, including concerns surrounding their procurement process and legality; iii) The Electoral Commission’s failure to properly demarcate polling stations and constituencies; iv) The requirement imposed by the Electoral Commission for each presidential candidate to collect and submit endorsement signatures from at least 100 registered voters in two-thirds of all districts in the country; v) The irregular and unlawful updating and compilation of the national voters’ register; vi) The opaque tallying and transmission of election results from district tally centres and other locations. These issues, among others, rendered the entire 2026 general election a sham and devoid of credibility.

I joined comrades at @PFFUganda to celebrate Dr @kizzabesigye1 70th birthday. From his prison cell at Luzira, Dr KB stands as an unwavering symbol of resistance, courage, and steadfast commitment to democratic ideals and the pursuit of national transformation. It was, therefore, not merely a celebration of his birthday, but of his enduring legacy, resilience, sacrifice, and longstanding dedication to the cause of a just and free Uganda.

What a pity, Hon. Hellen Nakimuli! The news of the passing of Hon. Hellen Nakimuli, hitherto the Kalangala Woman MP, is not only shocking but devastating. Young, energetic, and hardworking, with a zeal and determination to better the lives of the people of the Ssese Islands. Those of us who followed her during the time she served as a Community Development Officer (CDO) in Bukebe, Bufumira, and Mazinga sub-counties of Kalangala District saw a promising leader. When she started nursing ambitions of joining politics at the national level, we did not hesitate; we encouraged and supported her to join Parliament in 2021. She served in my cabinet as the Shadow Minister for Fisheries and was very outspoken on issues concerning fishing communities and safety on the lakes. She was peaceful and never acrimonious or vengeful. We thank the Almighty Lord for her life and the many talents she shared with us as a leader and a sportswoman. Deep commiserations to the family of Owek. Rev. Fr Christopher Walusimbi, her father; the Orthodox Faith that she professed; and the people of Ssese whom she served as MP. Eternal repose, Hellen.

VIDEO @democraticfr president @MathiasMpuuga on #TheGrindPodcast with Patrick Kamara @933kfm: 1. "...I am an active politician, I have moved in every inch and space of this country. I know where his [General Yoweri Museveni support is, it is not 71% it is not even 50%, and he knows it too." 2. "I am on record before and after the elections for having spoken out. I went out of my way and wrote to every political party in the opposition, warning and inviting them for a commonality of purpose...Immediately after the elections, I held a press conference spoke about the same issues, I had warned colleagues about that we never cared about and they happened. So, I feel that I am vindicated to the fact that I raised the alarm. Those who didn’t care, there is no much I could do to drag them." 3. "Also I could have raised the challenge about that election in the supreme court, but I was not a presidential candidate and I did not have permission to raise the same on behalf of any candidate. Remember that in one of the amendments that I had intended in the presidential elections act probably out of ignorance or excitement, was to amend the law to the fact that a citizen can challenge the election in a supreme court as long as that citizen is a voter and there is a proof that his challenge is not a waste of court’s time. I had intended that when that happens when presidential candidates are either compromised or timid, a courageous citizen can challenge that election. That didn’t happen, and the opportunity was lost." 4. "What have I done as DF? The DF is is going to challenge particular actions leading to that election and our petition to the Constitutional court is ready, if you want to know how we have moved and that we are not sleeping as the DF." #RealChangeActNow

As we mark the joyous occasion of Eid al-Fitr, I extend my warmest greetings to our Muslim brethren in particular, and all Ugandans. This blessed day is a moment of gratitude, reflection, and renewed commitment to the values that bind us together—compassion, unity, and service to one another. As we celebrate, let us carry forward the spirit of Ramadhan—extending kindness to the vulnerable, promoting justice, and strengthening the bonds that unite us as a nation. May the feast of Eid-al-Fitri bring peace, prosperity, and renewed hope to everyone for a new Uganda that we all desire. Eid Mubarak

On 19 October 2023, the then Leader of the Opposition in Parliament, Hon. @MathiasMpuuga, presented a statement on unabated human rights abuses and the shrinking civic space in the country. Mpuuga cited widespread abductions and torture of opposition supporters. He challenged the government to account for citizens, including 18 individuals missing for years, who were picked up by security forces. He advocated for amending the Electoral Commissions Act to redefine the roles of the police and army in elections. #11thParliamentEnds
