@Maaryam_Ado The beneficiaries of these allocations should be ashamed of themselves. Why would any conscientious person accept an allocation that is so clearly antithetical to the public good? That strip of land has become one of Abuja’s most utilized communal spaces...this is very sad.

@officialsaskay @Mr_Justgentle The choices are not clear-cut for countries like Nigeria because of our strategic interests with the US on one hand, and China & the EU on the other. It becomes a delicate balancing act to avoid antagonising any of these partners by appearing to support either Ukraine or Russia.
English

@Mr_Justgentle You’re right, this is what happens when states have no leverage. Flexibility and non-alignment cannot be considered a strategy when we have little or no military and/or economic capacity.
Thank you for the compliment.

Those using political influence to spatially appropriate green spaces in #Abuja must remember: administrations come and go, but the city remains.
English

@realsultanoa @NigeriaStories AEPB doesn't remember anywhere. Abuja has never been this dirty. Uncollected waste all over the city, including wuse 2. For Gwarimpa: it's on its way to becoming West Africa's largest slum.

@DrJoeAbah Perhaps, journalists in broadcast media make better spokesperson than those in print media?
English

Chai! Nigerian Presidents really need to stop appointing journalists as their spokespersons. Only very few Nigerian journalists have the intellectual depth and emotional intelligence required for that role.

@Verse_Shom Khalil, I think we had our first computer lessons in 1994 actually (about 3rd term JSS 1)...after which we often played Qbasic Gorilla game and Prince of Persia.
English

In 1995, we had a fully equipped computer lab at Mt. St. Gabriel's Sec. Sch. (MSG) Makurdi. with a German computer science teacher (Mr. Jens Riddle).
Callings@CollinsUma
1996 that we were doing all-night browsing at roadside cybercafes in Makurdi? Why do you think a Minister's office in Abuja wouldn't have computers?

@Onsogbu @Talk2Dennison @EkeDavid01 City authorities should be proactive and replace the metal manhole covers with plastic (GRP) covers. No one will steal those.

English

I remembered when I was in Abuja and @Talk2Dennison was driving me around with @EkeDavid01
This is exactly what we were talking about.....
Manhole cover criminals should be shot on sight.

The severity of Nigeria’s unfolding food crisis is felt most acutely in cities, but the solution could lie within them too.
Read my thoughts on why urban #food systems must evolve to reflect the rapidly changing spatial and demographic patterns across Nigerian cities.

@4eyedmonk @GovWike The intention is great, but the execution is rubbish. This endangers the pedestrians.
Designing bicycle/pedestrian lanes shouldn't be an afterthought. The lanes ought to be clearly delineated.

@cassie_flynn @UNDPClimate This is quite insightful. I couldn't agree more.
Some further thoughts on this.
