@Haggis_UK Trouble is that in general the state sector just isn’t fantastic. Look at sport, music and academic high flyers. There is no real support across any of these areas. Unfortunately policy on education is always about a culture war.

#KayBurley - Carol Vorderman tweeted that Johnny Mercer didn't have a degree after being privately educated.. do you need a degree? Angela Rayner - No... but she's right... if your privately educated & couldn't get a degree, why waste your money... the state sector is fantastic

This was the party organised by the campaign team of London Mayor candidate Shaun Bailey – that's Lord Bailey to you because he's now been made a peer in Boris Johnson resignation honours. A reveller at the event got an OBE in same announcement

Dear @RishiSunak This morning you said you hadn't read the report into Boris Johnson. Now that you have, and seen the depth of his dishonour and disgrace, please could you ask his Majesty to withdraw Johnson’s Honours List. A dishonoured PM shouldn't be allowed to submit a list

Boris Johnson lied his way to power, but he did not do so alone. Today should be a day of reflection for all those in Parliament & in our media who indulged in his dishonesty. For those of us who believed in something different, we will carry on fighting for a fairer world.

Shaun Bailey, who ran unsuccessfully for London mayor, gets a peerage. Ben Mallett, a close friend of Carrie Johnson’s who ran Zac Goldsmith’s disastrous mayoral campaign, gets an OBE. They’re both in this picture of lockdown busting party at CCHQ 👇🏼

@mrchadburn School now is filled with endless compassion and exceptions and special circumstances, 30 children in a class not being held to account for their academic performance. It’s certainly different.

At this time we were going through the last few months of my dad's illness & school were blissfully unaware _ because you just didn't let them know then. Now, thankfully, it is different & there's much more communication, support & compassion for students in our schools. 2/3

Looking back at my old school reports - this one from Y11 was interesting. Who'd have thought that I'd go on to get a 1st class degree in maths & physics & teach mathematics & further mathematics. It also shows how different school was then to now. 1/3

It wasn’t a “blob” who made Suella Braverman break the speed limit. It wasn’t a “blob” that made Boris break his own lock-down rules. Everyone else in this country has to accept the consequences of their actions. And if the Tory party doesn’t wake up to that, it’s finished.

The @EduPolicyInst using data from @RenLearnUK finds reading scores in England are back to pre-pandemic levels, while in maths, they lag by 1.5 months. Also, the poverty-related achievement gap in reading is still larger in 2023 (12.3 months) than in 2019: bit.ly/42SBchT

This is completely outrageous. Whether or not you support the monarchy, nobody consented to this coronation. People have the absolute right to protest against it. theguardian.com/uk-news/2023/m…

How do the @metpoliceuk deal with protests in Britain? Well, I guess it kinda depends on what your protest is about. 🤷🏻‍♀️

I'm deeply concerned that people have been arrested while just preparing to peacefully express their support for a Republic, a view held by 25% of the public. This must stop. It's a basic democratic principle that people have the right to peacefully express their opinions.
