We need to ensure that we have sufficient well qualified Maths teachers to inspire our students. This is going to be a growing challenge as we move through this decade. Student numbers are rising, the number who are graduate-aged, declining 1/n

@vicgoddard @educationgovuk This is a great challenge. We are leading tailored programmes through the Maths Hubs and AMSP to support the development of subject knowledge and pedagogy of all teachers of maths, especially in schools with high levels of disadvantage.

Was asked to go on and comment but couldn’t. What is the solution when you simply cannot recruit maths teachers? Tried double classes with maths teacher leading and others supporting. @educationgovuk working at it but it’ll take time to come through
Good Morning Britain@GMB

Maths pupils at a Lancashire school are set to be taught by a 'virtual' teacher 300 miles away. A qualified teacher will also be present in the classroom, but the National Education Union says its members are willing to go on strike over plans. Can remote teaching really work?

It’s been a real privilege to have the opportunity to visit and support many secondary schools this term. Despite vast challenges we have hugely dedicated colleagues who are driven to secure the best possible outcomes for their students. Enjoy a well deserved festive break, all!

@WG_RumblePants Malcolm Marshall. It really didn’t matter what surface he was playing on. The pitch could be a road but he’d still make the ball talk at tremendous pace.

This might depend on what generation you are, but who is the best cricketer you’ve ever had the privilege to watch live? For me it’s a toss up between Anderson and Root, but I’d go with Anderson. I’ve seen him do things with the ball that seemed impossible.

@StudyMaths To take the time to pause and consider is really valuable. Thank you for posing the question.

Before you blindly rearrange, factorise then solve, it might be better to slow down and ask yourself: "What do you notice?" mathsbot.com/cpd
