@bygregorr @swmansion It was a CSS transition running for opacity changes. All views were re-rendered a few times per second (you can see the exact number of re-renders per second on the video). CSS transitions can be triggered only via react renders. Support for CSS animations will be added soon.

@swmansion not sure if the 25-to-120 gain holds outside declarative tweens scroll-linked or gesture-driven stuff usually keeps the JS thread involved and eats that headroom fast. what animation type was the demo actually running?

Reanimated 4.4.0 is here and it can push CSS animations straight to Core Animation on iOS! ✨ What else? Animation Backend integration (behind a flag), useTimestamp hook, and precompiled headers cutting C++ build times on Android. Check out the demo with 25 vs 120 FPS on the UI Thread ⬇️

@TheFireAndCode And yes, we plan to add support for Android's Animator API as well. We just wanted to start with something that works and iterate on it adding support for more properties, and eventually, for Android.

One of the things I've been working on just landed in Reanimated 4.4.0 🚀 CSS transitions on iOS can now run via Core Animation. Scope is small for v1 - transitions only, opacity only - but more is coming soon, including CSS animations and other properties. Stay tuned!

@TheFireAndCode Hey! Yes, it should be similarly performant to react-native-ease for platform-supported properties. All remaining properties will be updated in the old way so the user doesn't have to think which props can be animated and Reanimated will use the optimal path automatically.

In mature React Native codebases, agents can be helpful for spotting technical debt that’s easy to miss during fast-paced feature work. You can get some quick wins especially if you use skills like react-native-best-practices from Software Mansion. A few short examples below 👇

@tell_me_mur @wisniewskij514 I will raise a topic during our meeting. I suspect we won't support different API than the react-strict-dom one but maybe it's worth discussing before making the release.

Little sneak peek at CSS Pseudo-Selectors I'm currently implementing in Reanimated 🕵️ It uses Reanimated CSS Transitions under the hood. You can specify common interactions like 'hover', 'focus' or 'active' with just a few lines of code 😇

@tell_me_mur @wisniewskij514 Do you have something specific on your mind? We try to follow the convention established by react-strict-dom: #style-value-object" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">facebook.github.io/react-strict-d…

Animate your headers, exactly the way you imagine them! ✨ React Native Header Motion is my new library for building custom header animations driven by scroll – from single lists to multi-tab collapsible layouts where header animations stay in sync with your scroll views. 👇
