It has been an honour for me to join other judges convened by the Uganda Poetry Society @uganda69597 to read and assess submissions of poems for the Annual Dr. Ivan Edwards Poetry Awards. It was interesting to agree on a short list out of many amazing poems. Yesterday, we decided on a winner for each of the two categories of “18+” and “under 18”. The award ceremony is scheduled for 04:00PM to 10:00PM tomorrow, Saturday 28th March 2026 at the Backyard Bistro, Luthuli Avenue, Bugolobi - Kampala. Many thanks to @MatogoPhilip Philip Matogo for coordinating this competition.

A big thank you to Philip Matogo and the @DailyMonitor for this review of Prof. Ntambirweki’s upcoming biography, The Towering Trailblazer. This truly is the story of a man who set out to “change his fortunes and the fortunes of those around him ended up doing just that.”

@hrayebare @charlesgava_256 Ugandan books are typically 100 to 250 pages long. Plus, the language is easily accessible. One should be able to read 10 books per month. International books of an indefinite length and quality take longer, but 4 books are doable here. I can do it.
