This is absolutely ridiculous! Starlink is not allowed to have an internet provider in South Africa bc Elon Musk is not black. Under South Africa’s regulation, for individual telecom licensees like Starlink, they must have at least 30% equity ownership by “historically disadvantaged groups,” primarily Black South Africans who were citizens before or around the end of apartheid. It’s crazy that rules like this exist in the year 2026… the best technology for the citizens and future of South Africa should be granted access, NOT based on the color of your skin!
