@rdonoghue As a UX designer who plays RPGs, I've often wished I had the time to take a stab at this problem.

Someday, someone is going to actually do all the work necessary to make an RPG that solves the 3 product paradox (an RPG is a Teaching/Reference/Entertainment product) , and it will be a work of staggering genius that will pass without notice.

I bust on Jira some, but honestly, Jira is not to blame for bad company policies that turn it from a powerful, flexible (if sometimes cumbersome) tool into shackles forged from bullshit.

Where did you grow up? What decade? What was the term you used to indicate you'd completed a video game?

@wheelyweb @nickf Not saying “this is the law of UX” of course. Just how I personally think.

@MattBalara @nickf For some, the “real thing” is the data. The content. The detail. The “pretty thing” can sometimes be the best to test for specific needs. Sometimes the HTML (or compiled code) is the best thing to test with. Sometimes it’s a whiteboard sketch. For me it’s content in context

Things you can use to prototype: - Figma - InVision - XD - Sketch - Principle - PortoPie - HTML/CSS/JS - Framer - Webflow - UXpin - Origami Studio - Keynote/PowerPoint - pen/paper - whiteboards - paper - construction paper - sticky notes - cardboard - Legos The tool matters not.

@wheelyweb @nickf The real thing is the actual software that people use. I love whiteboards for working out rough ideas quickly, but I hate wasting time creating complex prototypes in something that’s as far from the real thing as a whiteboard.

It’s so easy to forget how comfortable we are due to very basic things, like electricity. Large power outages, like today in Berlin, are a kind of shocking reminder.

@rdonoghue So bizarre. Every shelf lines up, just the top one’s slightly shorter? Criminal.

@MattBalara Blame Ikea! They changed their square shelf model a few years ago!

My RPGs are now more organized than I think they have ever been. Relatedly, my wife is a ninja

So am I right in thinking that Apple just released a very large, colourful iPad on a permanent stand?

@RachelOldridge @hermesDE Standard for Hermes where I live now: doorbell doesn’t get rung, note doesn’t get left, package dumped at the tattoo/piercing shop around the corner.
