From our assistant director, Jerome Ford: My favorite bird is the wood duck. It's the first bird I ever banded early in my career, and it's the most beautiful one I had ever seen. Both hold a special place in my heart. #PostABird #BlackBirderWeek

We're predicting upwards of 400 million birds to be migrating over the US during each of the next three nights as we head towards the peak of spring migration. See birdcast.info and aeroecolab.com/uslights for more.

Our toddler started crying as we kept walking and didn't stop at the local playground today... breaks your heart, but it's the right thing to do! Region of Waterloo is closing all parks this weekend. Parents, keep your kids away #SocialDistancing
Bonnie Crombie 🇨🇦@BonnieCrombie

This isn't social distancing! Here's a video I received from a resident this weekend. Getting out for fresh air is a good thing, but please don't bring your kids to the playground to socialize with friends. Keep a 2M distance and remember that playground equipment isn't sanitized

Today is #WorldRabiesDay – a day of action and awareness for rabies prevention. From bats to dogs, most mammals can contract rabies, but cases are RARE! Always be safe around animals and if they seem to be acting unusual, call a local wildlife rehab centre or animal services.

Surprisingly the dramatic declines have also affected birds we think of as common, like Starling, House Sparrows and Pigeons cbc.ca/news/technolog…
