Braelyn’s story (please read) For those who are new here or just finding us, I wanted to share a clear update on our daughter. Braelyn is 18 and fighting an aggressive brain tumor. In early March, her condition suddenly worsened. What started as an 11 mm midline shift progressed to 19 mm in less than two weeks — we were in a race against time. We flew to UCLA where Dr. Linda Liau performed a complex brain surgery and was able to remove ~90% of the tumor and relieve the pressure on her brain. That surgery saved her life. But this tumor is aggressive and known to return quickly. Right now, we are in a critical window. Braelyn is home and working incredibly hard in rehab — relearning speech, regaining strength, and fighting every day to recover. At the same time, we are urgently working to slow tumor growth while pursuing a personalized immunotherapy (dendritic cell vaccine) that could give her a real chance at a future. Because there are no active clinical trials available, we are pursuing compassionate use in the UK. This process takes time — and time is what we are fighting for. We are also now considering proton radiation as a bridge, something I had been strongly opposed to, but may be necessary to help hold the tumor at bay while we work to access the vaccine. This is the hardest place to be — balancing risk, time, and hope. Braelyn continues to show incredible strength and determination through all of this. If you’d like to follow her journey, I share daily updates here. And for those who have asked how to help, we do have a GiveSendGo linked in my profile. Thank you for standing with Braelyn. 🤍

I write in @FT that Iran is playing the long game. In war, geography matters as much as technology. Iran commands the entire northern shore of the Gulf, looming large over energy fields on its southern shore and all that passes through its waters. Its Houthi allies are perched at the entrance to the Red Sea and along the passage to the Suez Canal; Iran is thus perfectly positioned to squeeze the global economy from both sides of the Arabian Peninsula. Those in command of Iran today are veterans of asymmetric wars in Iraq and Syria. They are now applying the same strategy to fighting the US on the battlefield of the global economy. Drones, short-range missiles and mines setting tankers and ports on fire can have the same effect IEDs had in Iraq, only with greater impact — disrupting global supply chains and sending oil prices higher. Iran could sustain its counteroffensive more easily and for far longer. Furthermore, a ceasefire alone will not lift the shadow of risk that Iran has imposed over the Gulf, which is now experiencing its nightmare scenario. That is why Iranian leaders are saying they will not accept a ceasefire until Washington fully grasps the global economic cost of waging this war. Businesses, investors and tourists may not return to the Gulf states if they assume that war could resume again. Unless the US is prepared to invade Iran to remove the Islamic republic’s leaders and then stay there to ensure stability and security, confidence in the Gulf will only return if the US and Iran arrive at a durable ceasefire. Iran says it will only accept a ceasefire with international guarantees for its sovereignty, which would probably mean a direct role for Russia and China. It may also demand compensation for war damages and a verifiable ceasefire in Lebanon. The US would then have to agree to some form of the nuclear deal it left on the table in Geneva in February and commit to lifting sanctions. Iran’s leaders entered this war with the goal of ensuring it will be the last one. Either it breaks them or radically changes the country’s circumstances. They are betting on surviving long enough and squeezing the global economy hard enough to realise that goal. Read full article ft.com/content/93b7b6…

Update on our daughter Braelyn (18) and her brain tumor surgery today After 6.5+ hours in surgery, we finally spoke with neurosurgeon Dr. Linda Liau. The surgery was extremely complex, but we are grateful and hopeful. Here’s what happened today 🧵

The last few days have been difficult with significant headache pain, but this afternoon Braelyn finally started feeling much better with consistent Tylenol. Seeing her smile again was such a relief. Tomorrow morning at 7:30 AM PT she will undergo ~6 hours of brain surgery with Dr. Liau at UCLA. We are very anxious, but we know Braelyn is in the most capable — and compassionate — hands. We have also been overwhelmed by the love, encouragement, and prayers from so many incredible people here on X. Every like, share, message, and personal story reminding us that Braelyn is at one of the best hospitals with one of the best surgeons has meant the world to us. Please continue to pray for our sweet girl as she faces this surgery tomorrow morning. Your support is carrying us through this. 🤍

@DrPatrick @DrPatrick I agree with this! But my Dad qualifies for your trial and your team didn’t select him. So now I am forced to try and find other treatments. There are no other trials that utilize this molecule. Only one I’ve seen in the same ballpark utilizes IL-12. Will that work?

@jakesna I’m genuinely interested in getting one, but I’m legit worried about the range. It may be irrational but I worry about it being a pain in the butt. I drive a decent amount, but I could charge at home.

@LoriMills4CA42 @ChrisCuomo Ok so it looks like things appeared better on the findings? Did they not provide the image? Also, what was Andrew’s tumor’s IDH status? I’m curious if he has a Wildtype tumor.

Thank you @ChrisCuomo for keeping the spotlight on this critical fight against cancer, which has devastated so many lives. My husband was diagnosed with glioblastoma and given just 12 months to live. We fought hard to get him into Dr. Patrick Soon-Shiong’s clinic. He’s now on #ANKTIVA and PD-L1 NK cell infusions—his latest brain scan is NORMAL! This treatment needs to be available to ALL cancer patients nationwide—stop slow-walking it, @FDA! Dr. Pat holds the key; let’s unlock it for everyone. Grateful for sharing this story. #Immunotherapy @POTUS

So here is the logic. Anktiva (IL-15) was ranked number ONE to cure cancer. Keytruda was ranked number TWO by NCI in 2007. Anktiva GROWS T CELLS. Keytruda takes the BRAKES OFF THE T CELLS. Eventually Keytruda fails since there are no T cells to take the brakes off. So if T cells could be replenished by GROWING T CELLS WITHIN YOUR BODY AS THE FACTORY and STIMULATED WITH IL-15 by growing T crlls together with NK cells, Keytruda can be rescued and allow T cells to work again and prolong life. Well that is EXACTLY what we showed in our lung cancer trials and our trial with over 10 different tumor types and presented this data to Saudi FDA… resulting in approval of Anktiva in combination with Keytruda to prolong lives of patients with lung cancer who had failed all standards of care and whose tumors were spreading and growing while on Keytruda! So in short the combination of number 1 with number 2 ranked molecules of the immune system is both biologically rational and logical based on their MECHANISMS OF ACTION. And last night @DrJBhattacharya mentioned loudly that FDA wants to accelerate approvals based on their doctrine of “plausible mechanism of action”. Anktiva’s mechanism has been validated by FDA themselves within the approved package insert! With regard to single arm trials: Number two ranked drug developed over last decade (with 40 FDA approvals and approved for multiple tumor types with SINGLE ARM TRIALS FOR MSI high for Merck). So when combined with the Number ONE ranked drug to rescue the number two, then magic happens. But it’s not magic… it’s the biology of your immune system… NK cells rescue T cells. The single arm trial with very mature data was accepted by Saudi FDA to enable their population to have access to this combination. This is the enlightenment that is needed! nejm.org/doi/abs/10.105…

@MattFleckCCIM I’m sorry you and your dad are dealing with this, too. Chemo and radiation to me are the definition of insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result.

⸻ Early in Braelyn’s journey, a doctor became angry with me for questioning standard of care and told me—three times—that my daughter was going to die. That same institution gave her 1–3 months to live. We are now 31 months in. Last fall, a neurosurgeon told my 18-year-old daughter that nobody survives GBM. When I shared that I personally know long-term survivors, he said they were “lying or misdiagnosed.” This is a glimpse of what we’ve been up against for 2.5 years. I have never wanted to prove anyone wrong more in my life. I believe access to immunotherapies like Anktiva and personalized cancer vaccines could be a game changer for Braelyn. We are fighting through red tape to get access and to keep her alive long enough to receive them. We are deeply grateful for her current oncologist, who supports our decisions and believes immunotherapy and personalized vaccines are the future of brain tumor treatment. Please continue to pray for Braelyn and share her story. @LoriMills4CA42 #GBM #ChildhoodCancer

Mexico clinics will give you what ever you want. Caveat emptor. I’ve had several friends go get cryo, stem cells, nk, blood cleaning, etc. they are still alive. One had recurrence after vax… Almost no one should get chemo, but perhaps micro dose into the tumor. Cryo or cyber knife seems better then blood cleaning. scientificfreedom.dk/2023/02/04/sho…

@LexLiberty76 @DrPatrick Yeah well it seems like if you go to any major medical center they are just going to run you through the standard of care, which is chemo/radiation. It’s a joke, and it doesn’t work. Not for GBM. I also didn’t realize that clinical trials are so small. It’s bullshit!

@MattFleckCCIM @DrPatrick I listened to the testimonials on the page and they sounded really decent, if the initial consult is free then might as well. If your care you are getting now is horrible it may be your only option if you have the funds

@LexLiberty76 @DrPatrick Is that place legit? I’ve heard a lot of people talking about it on here and Facebook. I can’t tell if it will help or if it’s just a predatory scheme type place. But I guess we don’t really have any other options.

This makes me so sad, and so frustrated. @SecKennedy This girl deserves a chance. President Trump signed right to try and the @DrPatrick cannot take 15k applicants. Please give cancer patients hope. Braelyn is 16 years old. Please approve her for #ANKTIVA @bullishbruk

Today we learned that Braelyn was denied access to the Anktiva clinical trial. Trial criteria are rigid. Cancer is not. We will now pursue single patient expanded access. We are not stopping. #GBM #Anktiva #ImmunityBio #ChildhoodCancer #SaveBraelyn
