Scream 6 starts on a high with the Laura sequence (should’ve been longer) but takes a terrible turn with Jason…and this is a good line but doesn’t save it from being one of the worst openings 😕

"Who gives a fuck about movies?!" Ugh that Scream 6 opening was PEAK. And such a step up from that bland one in 5. Sucks the rest of the movie doesn't quite measure up lol. But it was refreshing to see an unmasking in the beginning and having a little killer vs killer moment.

@FreddyInSpace I get it though. The horror genre isn’t formulaic like it was in the 90s to do the same type of commentary. As far as being “Stab” meta, they’ve done that to death (& Scream 2022 wrecked the lore). VI tried to force meta, but Mindy’s rules didn’t even make sense.

Scream moving away from "that meta goal" baffles me. Kevin Williamson created the whole thing so who am I to question him, but for me, Scream IS "that meta goal." Otherwise it's just another slasher series. Craven's films always dialed into that with timely, incisive commentary.
