At Lot's request, the Angel of the LORD, Who is the LORD, spared Zoar from destruction in a last-minute adjustment to His plan because Abraham's nephew complained about having to retreat all the way to the mountains. Because Meticulous Determinism.

@fiercepatricks What are you babbling about, midwit? There are no dumpsters online, so tools like this have no place to gravitate to.

@MattJSchilling So what did your Bible tell u about sinners.. did it say some sinners will go to heII while some sinners will go to heaven.. depending on the gravity of sin? Keep lying to yourself

Why do church leaders always make homosexuality such a hot topic when so many church leaders are exposed for pedophilia or adultery? It doesn’t make sense to me. Last time I checked, no sin is greater than another

@JonKismetCalvin @stevebward Yes, He can interact sequentially with billions of people at the same time. But if He is going to interact with a creature of time, He will do it sequentially... because of the creature's time aspect.

Kismet = Calvin
Kismet = Calvin@JonKismetCalvin·
Aquinas rejected “discursive” thought in God: that God can only think of one thing at a time. For example, you probably cannot “think about” geometry, the history of the civil war, how to repair a blown car motor, and relationship advice for your children (etc) “simultaneously”. God can. God having thoughts in sequence, seems consistent with the “antecedent / consequent” will of God, which Aquinas also taught and affirmed. (To address the obvious objections): “Succession” is the change from generation to corruption to death. So God does not suffer succession.

Does God have thoughts in sequence? If so, how would that relate to the concept of immutability or divine simplicity?

@stevebward Time is foundational to creation - for angels as well as for humans. When God interacts with them, He interacts sequentially. Even the most gifted and skilled Kung Fu master, if he enters a boxing match, must abide by the rules of boxing.

@Sacramentshow The paradigm of "Set people over tens, others over fifties, others over hundreds, and others over thousands. Have them bring bigger and more difficult problems to the top." that started with Moses is still valid today. Thank you for coming to my TED Talk.

Serious question If Jesus intended Christianity to run on private interpretation, why did the early Church call councils, condemn heresies, and enforce doctrine instead of saying believe whatever your Bible study tells you? What exactly was the authority for?

⚡️BREAKING: A regional source states that the United States has agreed to release $12 billion in Iranian funds Details provided by the source: — $12 billion has been deposited in Qatari banks — A high-level Iranian delegation is currently in Qatar negotiating how the funds can be transferred to Iran — President Trump can politically sell this as money coming from “Qatar” rather than the "United States"

Government schools spend $21,456 per child per year. Imagine if that money went directly to families instead. A teacher could set up a microschool with just 14 students and pull in $300,384 a year.

@Heminator Such judges are scofflaws. Separate from the onerous impeachment process, judges need to be held accountable for their conduct like the rest of us. Fine them; suspend them; place them on permanent leave (obviously with pay).

@AfgZoroastrian Leftists watch Islam summon millions of Muslims to passively submit to several public cattle calls per day like a young boy watches his favorite athlete. Leftists have to master that skill and repeat it!

Nobody talks about the parent who never once asked their kid if they had homework. Not once in a semester. Not once in the school year. The teacher emailed. The teacher called. The teacher sent the progress reports home. Nobody on the other end was paying attention. We talk about teacher accountability every single day, but we don't hold parents to the same standard.

Mostly true. What matters is securing the long-term future of consciousness, both on Earth and other heavenly bodies. We cannot just focus on Earth, because there are irreducible external (eg massive meteor) and internal (eg global nuclear war) cataclysmic risks. The Moon is faster to make self-growing, but is more susceptible to problems on Earth. Mars will take longer to make self-growing, because it is so hard to reach, but is more secure from Earth disasters for that same reason. Both the Moon and Mars should have self-growing civilizations. Making this happen is the prime directive of SpaceX.
Jaynit@jaynitx

Former SpaceX astronaut Garrett Reisman reveals the single prism Elon Musk runs every major decision through "He measures pretty much every major decision by whether or not it brings the day when we have a self-sustainable colony on Mars sooner or later" "That's the prism by which he makes every single decision he makes" "He's got an idea and he'll keep pushing, and he gives us aggressive timelines that we have to work to" "We work really hard to try to meet them. It's hard when you're doing stuff that's this complicated to predict exactly how long it's going to take" "We end up falling a little bit behind, but we do our best"

@SterlingWest There are movies and novels where the setup is some Duke of Somewhere who is broke and needs to marry a rich heiress. You're describing an alternate take on that tried-and-true backdrop.

I'm working on an article and could use some help. When did the Ivy League and other "prestigious" universities stop teaching students HOW to think and start teaching students WHAT to think? I'm primarily thinking about liberal arts programs but would love to hear examples in STEM too. Thanks in advance.

@ScottJenningsKY DST is a response to a NATURAL PHENOMENON. Days are MUCH longer in summer than in winter. Whining about DST is really whining about reality. But DST starts WAY TOO early. It is meant to move EXTRA light away from early morning. But there is NO extra light in March to move.

I have this fear Donald Trump’s approval rating from multiple polls will dip below 30% and yet somehow magically the Republican Party will still keep the house and the Senate after the midterms.
