"Elsewhere" I feel it in the spaces- the ones between sentences, between breaths, between bodies that used to bend toward each other. Bodies in orbit but hearts in suspension, screens hold the gaze that we once lent each other. Fingers flicker like candles in cathedrals of the distracted, bodies side by side but miles apart. It's not the glow that haunts me. It's the way eyes don't meet anymore. Rooms full of people, all somewhere else. The silence isn't empty. It's heavy— a weighted whisper pressing against the ribs. We don't look away anymore. We don't look up to begin with. I move through the quiet like a ghost who still remembers what laughter sounded like when it lived outside a phone speaker. We scroll instead of speak, trade touch for touchscreens and call it connection, but we're all buffering between breaths. Ghosts with glowing thumbs, souls synced but not seen, congregating in silence under backlit blue beams. We build card-constructed houses of glass and code, kneel at the altar of "just one more scroll," baptized by pings, redeemed by nothing. Every glance, averted. Every mom ent, divided. Presence, a currency we've forgotten how to spend. The revolution we feared didn't come with bombs. It came with notifications. Conversations grew shallow, touch grew optional, presence became a background process. I'm not drowning in the noise. I'm stranded in the quiet it left behind. Surrounded by faces turned away, not from me, but into something else entirely. There's a strange kind of loneliness in a room full of people who aren't really here. Not gone. Just... elsewhere. This is awesome news. Thanks @sama & rest of the @OpenAI team. The number and variety of ways I've integrated ChatGPT into life is just fascinating, even as I look back and reflect. And those ways have evolved, of course. The great part is how it's become a partner in my own growth, learning, development, productivity, self-awareness & discovery, and more.

A host willfully delayed responding to a refund request; and then they and Airbnb support passed me back and forth for a week and half. Then they decided that (since the host delayed, of course) it was too late. You see the problem here, right? So no trip, out thousands of dollars, and no recourse.
