We are deeply saddened by the passing of Mick Hunt, former Head Groundsman at Lord's. Mick was a very popular character among MCC Members and staff, and his huge smile a permanent feature around the Ground for 49 years, having joined the Lord's groundstaff in 1969 and retiring in 2018. Few people can attest to being so indelibly connected to the history of Lord's. We offer our sincere condolences to his family.

More developments: the 26 signatories of the letter calling for Sussex board to resign en masse are prepared to call an EGM at Hove if the club reject their proposal to place three of their number on a rejigged board. Could trigger a no-confidence vote by members.

In 2013, Matt Prior became only the second wicketkeeper, after Adam Gilchrist, to score a fourth-innings Test century in a win or a draw.

Saying that “the financial outcome for 2024/25 is very disappointing and a serious matter for the Club. Sussex Cricket recorded a significant operating loss …” without saying what the loss is .. 1/2

Anyone with basic comms skills should know that when giving bad news you give it all in one go rather than allowing it to dribble out. The AGM can’t come soon enough.

Sussex confirmed this week that their operating loss last year was £1.33m (down to loss was £762k at "group level" - ie including income from flats at Hove etc). AGM on 24th March, with four board members having stood down in the last month

.@SussexCCC means a lot to many of us. The 2025 accounts show serious financial deterioration & acknowledged governance failings. Change has started but it needs to be completed, quickly & responsibly. The focus must return to cricket. The Club needs stability now!
