@HighwaysSWEST It's been closed for coming up 2hrs already, and expected to be until 14:30. We're just supposed to sit here for hours in the sun?! No food and water. Unbelievable! Why can't you turn the vehicles around and release them!?

The #M5 northbound between J11 (#Gloucester) and J9 (#Tewkesbury) is closed due to a serious collision. Emergency services are in attendance. Traffic officers are providing traffic management support. There are currently no delays on the approach to the closure.

@JohnGoldman The comparison thing really is tough. But (almost) everyone does it! I'd love to know what people's running weeks, long runs, easy pace etc would look like if nobody could see those stats. I know I am definitely guilty of going too fast, and causing myself injuries 😕

@ShekerevMD @Alan_Couzens I have a concept 2. I always mean to use it. But it is the most boring mode of aerobic, vs cycling/running (or even hiking!).

@Alan_Couzens Why don't more people go for indoor rowing as main cardiovascular exercise?

The 3 truths all runners must balance: 1/ For moderately fit athletes, running increases VO2max per unit of time more than any other mode. 2/ Running carries a higher risk of injury per unit of time than any other mode. 3/ Time off due to injury decreases VO2max very quickly.

@Alan_Couzens Physical benefits aside, walking in nature is fantastic for mental health.

My own VO2max is top 3% for my age & on a typical week, I walk more than I run. 🚶> 🏃 For me, on a distance level, there is absolutely no additional benefit to my VO2max in distance running vs distance walking. Walking just takes a little longer.

@DrTEHughes We take ours with us nearly always. On a rare occasion we go somewhere where dogs aren't allowed, he stays home and he's fine. No, it's not acceptable, if you can't devote the time to then.

Genuine question for dog owners. Our neighbours have 2 dogs. Every single weekend they go out for the whole day and leave the dogs inside. The second that someone knocks or a pin drops outside they are barking, for hours. Is this acceptable? To me it's selfish and cruel.

What's the best exercise? Running, cycling, aerobic, weights, HIIT? The best exercise is the one that you can do consistently over the long haul. Whatever that is, start there. Don't get caught chasing optimum before you've ingrained it as a long term habit.

@100Climbs common agreed standards is the only way, should be as easy as buying tyres for your car. Baffles me the bike world can't make that happen but then I guess a lot of tech has changed compared to car tyres which have been pretty standard for a long while ?

Hopefully one day engineers will invent a solution for these death traps.

@Dan_Anear @learn_think_run I have a herniated disc also. I saw it on an MRI, which I believe exacerbated the pain! Pain free now 🙏🏼

@MattRollinson @learn_think_run I've just started reading Sarno and where I'm up to he's just talking about how disc herniations are often not the cause of pain but instead TMS. I've heard previously when they've studied plenty of people have herniations and no pain. Hope you find relief soon.

I've had a back spasm so bad I can't stand up straight and am visually scoliotic. Why does happen the day before a big job interview? How am I going to deliver a presentation whilst I look like Quasimodo?
