I loved the first season of Silo. Season two was a solid progression, but so far season three feels like they're just treading water and inventing lore. The air of mystery is missing. It's just not as compelling.

The story is told from a very masculine point of view. But this film takes the time to really look at things from the women's point of view." Penelope holds Ithaca together for twenty years. Athena drives the entire plot. Circe turns men into pigs. Is Nyong'o describing Homer's Odyssey or a different book entirely?

Given that movie theaters make most of the profit off concessions I think they are yet another sector at risk of failing because of the rise of GLP-1s. GLP-1 people don't snack nearly as much, and when you run a snack store attached to a cinema you're going to lose money

@fandompulse It's been the best Star Trek I've seen in years. Also, as a nurse, I really do love the changes they've made to Nurse Chapel. The dynamic between her and M'Benga is probably the most accurate portrayal of the Doctor and Nurse relationship outside of The Pitt

@heavyspoilers And the good thing here is that Live Action Moana isn't "Woke," there's no recasting. It's not part of the culture wars. If it fails, it's an other indicator that audience tastes have changed... arguably for the better.

Gay Klingon actor Karim Diane said Worf actor Michael Dorn warned him he'd get attacked by fans: “He gave me like a lot of really good advice about how to deal with prosthetics and how to interact with the fandom and stuff like that. He warned me that there was gonna be people coming for me, that kind of thing. And even back then, he was dealing with it.” If they knew fans would hate this, why did they do it?

@itzWicks @fandompulse And even then, execution makes a huge difference. I cried at the third episode of The Last of Us because it was so real, heartfelt and weighty.

Meanwhile, over at Doctor Who, we had two “omni-sexual” characters who weren’t particular about who they smashed: Captain Jack Harkness and Professor River Song. Guess what: fans of the show absolutely LOVED them. Their sexuality didn’t define them - their personalities (perfectly written by Moffat and Co.) did. Good luck finding anyone in the vast majority who thinks otherwise. *IF* Klingons were established in the very beginning to have same sex attraction (among other things), that might flown under the radar, but we are talking about NuTrek here. The current producers (Bryan Fuller in particular) wanted to make sure that there was genuine gay representation on screen. I think that part of the point of Star Trek (regardless of series) was the ability to tell stories that got past the censors by utilizing alien races to substitute for the contemporary groups of humans of differing views, creeds, sexual orientation, etc. Audiences can gain empathy, or at least consider new ideas without the soapbox or sledgehammer to the skull (I’m looking at you, “Let That Be Your Last Battlefield,” and especially you, “The Outcast”). When the protracted preaching becomes obvious and over the top, audiences turn away, and turn off. I, for one, blame the horrific writing. And the glitter.
